We are at mid-August, laziness is in high levels, most games have significantly slow down, personally I am too bored to play my turns especially to next people. And I had to do that several times today

Strange but after more than a month of heat and sun the weather remembered the clouds, the rain and all these noisy lightnings and decided to turn a sunny day into a rainy night full of thunders just to break the monotony. As the matter of fact as I type these words I hear the rainfall and smell the wet soil. How the hell did I became so poetic?

And I just read that Swissy is dropping all his games. 3 and a half years playing together in this forum and all I can read is a sibyllic statement in a single line...
I just realize that from the fellow grandpas only Max and Paul have left...

Well, I had started PBEM and then blew out my HD...sux

Then installed WIN98SE because of incompatibility of CTP & XP...but copy I have has had noting but problmes..

so I am on hold until we finalize our house closing..should be this week or early next week....then I will get my pc fixed...

I really love this game and although I prefer MP in lobby I believe I will soon get into a big old PBEM Frenzy..


I had 3 games started before problems started occurring..shame of it.....


I get these darn icons appearing like a file on my pc..some on desktop..other in my main HD folder

so I will get my pc once again fixed and then hopefully be all squared away..

Ok..this gets me double-bonus + points by being a grandpa & a Troll

Hummm if you try to reinstall it again go to your dos prompt I.E. put in your boot disk and go to c:\

Once there type in
fdisk /mbr
Then type in
fdisk
Then delete your primary partition once you are in fdisk option 3
Then create a new partition option 1

Reboot with your bootdisk, then in your a:\ prompt type format c: /s

Then reboot and reload your windows.
Do you have the code for your windows 98se?
If so I can send you the disk as it is generic or you can slipstream it from microsoft.

The CTP/XP problems are variable, ill-defined and intermittent. I'm not sure they'd stand up to statistical analysis, but we all believe that they are there...

Many people, myself included, run CTP with no problems on XP. Many others can't make it work properly or at all. The problems are particularly associated with online MP.

You will if you try to save a MP game online..EVERYONE has, I have heard of NO ONE whom has NOT had problems when reloading a save..

EVERYONE at some point that I have talked to or played has gotten this error:

" NO SCENARIO FOUND "

I could play all the single player and PBEM I wanted no problems, I could play all my homemade Scenarios fine..

But another problem is when the host has XP and tries to play a MP online game they cannot enter a game.

Thtas what I am referring to.

BUT, if you folks have had no problems playing online, when do you play, havent seen you guys there..actually I only see a few diehards anymore sometimes I pure go to sleep waiting and wundering ifin any other loser..I mean CTP'er dedicated type will show up!

BUT, I hope I can resolve this soon!

i dont have the time to play online very often. and i just played blackice last monday got my but kicked too but thats another story.
i dont play with scenario's so i dont know about that. but to get to play online i had to turn my fire wall off after i did that i was able to host and join games online have you tried furnning off your fire wall. you need to do that from your network connection

Yes I have turned off firewall, and no scenarios on my pc (I did, but took them out when i kept getting that message.)

I play online a lot and most all tell you that with XP its pretty darned impossible, at least to host. Then reload.

Now a player can Host with XP and if a player has an OS other than XP they can enter the game..BUT the problem exists when they try to RELOAD the game..hte error comes up.

A player can have 98..host, allow an XP OS player to join and all will operate fine.
