An ode to materialism

In the past 9 days, I have spent $850 on a new digital camera, $800 dollars on a new field speaker stereo system, and 100$ on cocaine. Can anyone top that?

I wrote a check for $23,000 to buy my wife a new SUV.

I also wrote a check for $34,000 to put a down payment on our first house. It was pretty sweet - we sold it 18 months later at a $25,000 profit, meaning we got a check for about $57,000 (less closing costs) at closing.

Oddly enough, I never felt that I was "rich" enough to afford either cocaine or credit cards. So I don't have either - well, I have a corporate AMEX card to be used on trips, etc. It's pretty nice when I have to buy something for the office and have better things to do than wait for permission from accounting.

The speakers are universal field high/mid range towers, which blast sound in an equal, circular pattern - it doesn't matter which way you face them. I won't get into how low end the sub can get... and way to effing loud. On top of which, the master deck lights up like a christmas tree, with automated glass panels and all sorts of pressable buttons!! And it says good bye to you whenever you shut it off!! It will be a perfect replacement for one of my friends

I once bought a $350 radar detector, $150 car amplifier, $50 wiring, and a small amount on food, alcohol, and marijuana in one day. It was the day after I graduated. It was some of the best money I've ever spent, ESPECIALLY the radar detector as it's saved me far more money than its pricetag.
