	Formal invitation to all Apolytoners to Zone Support Apolyton, buy Alpha Centauri

The Zone has roared back to life in the past few days, and this was actually good evidence that civ2 is holding its ground against civ3 and other multiplayer games.

Contrary to popular belief, the zone does not have cheaters. It's the one or two bad apple who might have ruined the reputation of zone players. Most players I meet here are great to play against, they are highly personable, and they are good strategic players.

I invite the Apolytoners to also visit the zone from time to time. It's real simple. Just visit the zone and leave on your Zone Messenger for others to see you. Add a few zone regulars to your friends list. I've seen Prometheus from these forums visit the zone and play a game, and it was nice to see. On Fridays, we get more than 20 players coming online to play on the Zone, so it's a very time efficient and effective way to get a good Civ game going.

If you need help around Zone, such as player recommendations and such, feel free to ask me about it as I am often online. I think it's important for the Civ2 players to band under one forum, and the zone is a good way to get it started.

So, head on to http://www.zone.com, signup a user name, and give us a visit. My zone handle is Robbie_Tiger. I hope that we can band together enough players to resurrect Gameleague and its tribes, and that we will continue to explore new strategies and insights of this game.

That zone link does not begin to work. I just end up in a morrass of ads, MSN pages, and dead ends.

I tried, mind you. But I can't find the Civ2 games area.

you must go here and create an account with name.
click where it says " sign in"
once you are signed up and signed in , click on the word "games"
in the left hand column under MSN channels.
then click on Civilization II mp.
then it will go to the zone page
click on the "Click here to play this game on the Zone"
click on the "age of glory" room.
then your at the old zone room.

Persevere, my friends, persevere.

I, too, experienced much difficulty connecting to the zone room after they "upgraded" the site. For some reason, my internet browser sometimes kicks me back out to the main screen, telling me that I haven't signed on even though I have.

After much tinkering, I found out that there is a cookie problem. So everytime I have this problem, I head to my cookie folder and erase everything. I close my browser. Then I start the browser again. And when I sign on again, I enter the zone room like magic. ;-)

The cookies are stored in windows/temporary internet files. Just get rid of them all; they are evil.

If you have further problems, write here and I will help you. We need the O.W.L Alliance back in tribes play to get things going again.

yes wiz, i tried to tribe thing as well with Sayen, but hey, sh*t happens. i am now in Tuatha De Danann tribe, we mostly play with each other

there are a few d*cks in the zone, there are d*cks everywhere.

my biggest problem with zone players, is when they think they don't have a chance, they retire, then the guy at war with him retires, then another, then the game is over because i have the top five, or somebody built mikes. BUT, these people are few and far between, there are good and decent players there, i have played with Robbie/spartan a few times. as well as HitYouWithA2X4 to name another. the main problem is not much variance in settings, hence the call to arms to Apolyton.

due to mix ups with long gone cheating Gen_Maximus,General Max and other variances, my zone name is ApolytonMaximus, Formally Chuckles39/Gen_Maximus3, come see us, at least come and b*tch at us, then maybe we can talk you into playing us

i played a game last fall against sloow, boann, cavebear and chris, fun game but we couldn't get to continue



is the zone still good for one-night stands? (playing a game where nobody has any intentions to continue)

slows on a once a week diet of civ
due to his computer died and is taking vacation.
so he plays on sat early evenings on his brothers computer.

I've tried to sign in twice over the past week but they seem to want me to agree to let them spam me before they'll register me. This I will not do.

Also, my old account doesn't seem to work. Damned annoying. Microsoft shoots itself in the foot once again.

Alexander, contrary to popular belief, there's not much spamming at the zone. Sure there is that, "Click here for the best casino online!" crap, but after that, it's a smooth ride the zone room. Little price to pay, I'd say.

hmmm, i wonder what reasons are behind the underwhelming number of responses from regular Apolyton MPers

could it be that they knowingly or unknowingly look down on Zoners?
is it some sort of hatred of microsoft?
is it too much trouble to bother signing up?
are they old and inflexible in their ways?

More like, If it ain't broke don't fix it.
I'm very happy with the setup that we have for Friday's and Saturday's. Only one night in the last six month's we didn't get a game going. And I appreciate that we are familiar and like the people we play with. (even when you play )

But yes, too old and inflexible comes the closest.

Well, as of late, I see a lot more traffic in the zone. New ppl are dropping by, and I don't know if it's because of this invitation, but some have told me that they have dropped by after seeing this post. I'm trying to educate them the best I could about some in-game subtleties and try to get them interested in such concepts as tribe play.

Keep 'em coming, life in the zone was a sightly sight to see.

My problem with the zone is this:

I am playing a very tight duel and I am slightly ahead...

I have most of the happy wonders, and this guy squeezes me on JS Bachs, so I go ahead and build the GW and start celebrating my a$$ off some more.

After I get Shakes, he drops. Disappears. I waited for twenty minutes for him to come back.



If I see him again I'll strangle him. Or I just won't play him anymore.

This is a common occurence there, and it really pisses me off when I invest 4 hrs. in a game and the bastard drops on me.

I'll get him someday.

Leaguegames tend to have a higher finish ratio, every player currently playing there wont give a game unless they have absolutely no chance to win.

what was the guys name fox? most ppl on the zone don't quit contrary to popular belief. if you need to know who the quitters are, just ask me. my zone name is Kuja_Returns. and atawa is right, playing in a league means that ppl are less inclined to quit on a game, maybe you should consider it.

oh by the way, i just played a game with prometheus tonight. good to see him on the zone. hope to see some more of you guys there.
