I also heard America put some pressure on Iran to exile Hekmatyar. Iran complied -in a litteral sense-, and sent him to Afghanistan.

Tactical nuclear weapons are just not needed. Opposition forces are pocketed and being hit almost continuously by air and arty. They can't resupply/reinforce to any significant degree and are being constantly worn down while allies suffer very light casualties.
8 US dead (six of whom died in a single helo crash-firefight) and forty odd wounded (don't know how badly) in a battle with an entrenched enemy makes for very light casualties in a battle with a thousand plus combatants on each side. Especially when the bad guys have taken 500-odd dead.

Nonsense. The Taliban are reactionaries. They were about law and order, even if it was medieval law and order. The NA are quite simply criminals. Only the Taliban are devout Muslims. And their support was not due to that, rather to the fact that they provided some law and order. Who said there are many devout Muslims in Afghanistan?
