game locks up and shuts down Suffering from ads?

hi, i'm new to the forum any help would be appreciated. while playing civIII on a map created with the editor, everything seems fine until around the date of 670 ad. and then the game locks up and shuts down...i'm currently using a new computer that came with windows xp, 1600 athalon system. i have only run a few scenarios since switching to this opp.system and not sure of any bugs that may be associated with windows xp...thanks for any help...MOE
