Wow. Interesting concept. Might make explorers useful, too. Anyone played a game through yet ?

Interesting concept... wait others already said that. Another thing you would have to balance out is the huge advantage that gives to Militaristic Civs, who generally get more leaders & the more aggressive Civs would get more elite units.

Don't you think that makes the game:
a) heavily based on random chance (# of goody huts I find and number of those that are settlers, as well as the number of leaders I manage to generate)
b) primarily a military slugfest (every opportunity to fight I'll take, especially since every captured enemy city and every leader I generate is worth it's wieght in gold).
In such a game I would play only the Aztecs or the Zulus, and it would be over very quickly...

how much of a slugfest would it really be, given that each civ only has one city to build units (except the ones they conquer or ones built from leaders)?
