This is probably a dumb question, but... I just got Test of Time inna bargain bin, and was playing it for the first time. I launched my spaceship, it got to Centaurus, but I don't have any troops there or anything now. I can just see the map. And there's nothing left to research but future tech... what do I have to do?

You could possibly run delevent and reload, having modified the events file to give you the colonists/marines you would have otherwise gotten from landing.
Change the spaceship landed trigger to a turn trigger set to your current turn+1 or somesuch.
