Well, maybe my question won't warrant embarrassment. I currently have ICQ, but all I can figure is that it only facilitates instant messaging and chat. The FAQ's I've read about ICQ yak on and on about "Active Lists", but I hear that the new version which I have doesn't support that feature anymore, and there is no way of getting the old version. If indeed that is gone and any FAQ's are obsolete, is there at least chat rooms or somesuch where people are looking for games?

Not really... we do just use ICQ to facilitate setting up games.
But, people are posting here there intent to play a game, and what time to look for people on ICQ. We also use it to pass on IP addresses. The key is to know when to look... and threads here help that process out.

its probably easier to set up then a pbem game.You can have an mp game up and running in 10>30 minutes usually.Trick is to come in and get known abit.Subbing is a quick way to become popular.

..continuing and finishing is the hard part....

Well geez, I'm in 4 CivFan PBEM's as we speak, and anyone who MP's there knows me. Still doesn't find me a real-time anywhere.

You just add all Civ 2 players you want(for example me) and send a mess telling that you are interested in playing Civ 2 MP. If the user you send it to is offline he gots the mess when he logon on ICQ again. It can not be simpler.

and download ICQ and add me(you can see my ICQ number below) and other Civ 2 players.
You can find more ICQ numbers to add in the ICQ player list.

Send a message to each of them and tell them that you want to play Civ 2 MP

See you at ICQ

It's really easy to add somebodies number if the green flower "add me" button is showing in their handle box on the left

And since I don't want all the whiners who want to complain about my moderating adding me to their list... I don't show that feature. If you want mine, I'm listed in the ICQ thread.
