If indeed this is a test PBEM, then I suppose I have to a report any sort of problems with the scenario. Although I like this map, there seems to be problems with unit combat balancing. I noticed that the so-called “anti-aircraft” batteries were so powerful in defense that no land unit could defeat them except for field artillery, and even that was a stretch.
Not only is this unrealistic practically, but it makes the game historically inaccurate as well, since almost all of the Dutch East Indies and any other island bases with AA batteries are now impossible to take with the marines and tanks I have at my disposal in these areas. In case we still want to continue the scenario despite this, I played my turn anyhow:
- American Pacific fleet destroyed at Pearl Harbor of course, and surprise attacks begin throughout the western Pacific.
- Rangoon, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Singapore, Guam, Hohot, and Nanning have all been captured.
- Mandalay emptied and an occupation force was moved in, but they were out of range can did not take it this month.
- American submarine sunk just west of Darien
- Japanese troops only besiege both cities in the Philippines, since their AA batteries are too powerful to be destroyed by immediate amphibious attacks. Meanwhile, the American air force’s in the Philippines have been destroyed, and some of the garrisons on Panay and Mindoro were destroyed.
- Japanese planes and troops destroy most of the Allied garrisons and air forces in the East Indies that are outside cities, and then prepare for withdrawal back to China as the Japanese forces currently available are insufficient to destroy the powerful AA batteries in the cities of the East Indies. The only exception is Tarakan, which has been besieged.
- “Home Front” wonder completed in Kyoto through rush- building.

Good idea, Marko. I'll do that when I redo my turn with version 2, except it doesn't work! Some things are right, like the cities, terrain, and icons, but then other things don't work, like units, unit art, and city improvement names. Might want to check it out Pap, or just continue with 1.1.

In the new version he set them to 8, and this is just right. Although marines can't beat them, I'm willing to put up with that. They seem balanced because they are able to knock down a heavy bomber with about 50% damage, while ground troops can still beat them.
This turn went a lot better:
- American Pacific fleet destroyed at Pearl Harbor of course, and surprise attacks begin throughout the western Pacific.
- Rangoon, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Singapore, Guam, Manila, Davao, Rabaul, Surabaya, and Nanning have all been captured.
- Along with the capture of the two Philippine cities, the American garrisons on Panay and Mindoro were destroyed.
- Mandalay emptied and an occupation force was moved in, but they were out of range and can not take it this month.
- American submarine sunk just west of Darien.
- American carrier task force sunk by Japanese U-boat just south of Dutch Harbor, apparently costing about nine naval aircraft units, but we'll never know for sure.
- British fleet destroyed east of Singapore.
- American lend-lease transport bound for the U.S.S.R. sunk off Hokkaido.
- Japanese planes attack troops moving on the Burma Road, and destroy 5 stacked Nationalist armies.
- Wuhan, Taiyuan, Xian, Port Moresby, and Tarakan were out of range of Japanese troops so they could not be taken, but they all have been beseiged by troops capable of taking them within a month.
- American airbase deep in China destroyed.
- “Home Front” wonder completed in Kyoto through rush- building.
Good luck, suckers!
