Well, no sooner do I post a thread moaning about my difficulties in beating Civ III on Monarch level then I find myself on the verge of beating it at Emperor level. I will say this, though. It was purely luck that I built my first Persian city after my capitol on a hill smack on top of a lode of iron. Voila!!! Instant Immortals. That and a tiny one continent world and tonight I expect to move up to Deity level. Please send flowers to kcbob, c/o Apolyton forums.

I started a deity the other day since I figure I have to work on my war-mongering with the un-mod-ed game to play MP. Within a few turns the aztecs were swarming around like fire ants. Luckily the game crashed! I took it as a sign from god and decided to play a civfanatics GOTM instead.

I almost spoke too soon about speaking too soon. The idiot Zulus almost beat me in the Emperor game. They had the nerve to attack me! Eh bien. Domination Victory was accomplished.

Now to the matter at hand. I started a Deity game last night and things looked reasonably good until... I'm researching something like Polytheism and everybody else is building the Sistine Chapel and Bach's Cathedral. How'd they get so far ahead in research??? Oh, yeah, Deity level.

Then, when I decide to attack a neighboring civ and take one little city, my nine units with which I'm attacking get swarmed by what seemed like 30 or 40 units from my neighbor.

Lord have mercy, this is going to be fun!
