Cheating at Nethack Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

Nethack is annoying me greatly. I was wondering if anybody knew what hexes I need to edit in my saved game file in order to boost my character's stats.

Put an end to popups!

Try a starting the game with a command of "nethack -X". Your stats don't matter a whole lot if you start with blessed, rustproof +2 gauntlets of power, blessed, rotproof +2 boots of speed, and blessed +2 gray dragon scale mail. Until you run into a succubus, of course...

Ah, excellent. I've been entering discovery mode after starting the game; I wasn't aware that entering discovery mode via the command line made a difference.

Maybe I should try the game some time, but it sounds so repetitive.

If you want to cheat, why not just search the net for "nethack spoilers"?
They will explain the game mechanics to you and tell you tricks that help you survive. It is much more interesting than actually cheating.

You can also save the game and make a copy of your saved game file in case you die.
