Here is a picture of the T34 (the green one) the brown one is the t34/85, well on the way to completion. I am not sure but from pictures taken on the eastern front the T34 was often used as troop trasport ( the extended back is quite large and an exelent platform for troops) I am thinking of placing a couple of infantrymen on the back.
For the records the smaller gun is the 76mm, so this thread should be the T34/76 not 75

With patch 1.17 you could add units by going to edit units in the editor (civ edit) pressing tab untill you get to rename and then press alt- A, that would add a unit, you would have to name it the same as the file you wanted to add.
The new patch has disabled this fuction, but you can download a copy of the hacked editor for the new patch, or use the old patch to add units and then install the new patch to edit them.
the version of Civ III that comes out of the box does not feature this fuction, you can download a hacked editor for the 1.16, but it would be quicked to down load the second patch.
It is all very complicated, especialy compared to the old Civ II.
(the numbers of the patches I have quoted here are guesses, I don't have that info on me)

Iv'e been told that the panzer in Civ II has the right number of (Small inner wheels, not counting the two big end ones) wheels to be a Panzer IV (8, while the MkIII has 6), but it dosn't look much like either.
It is realy difficult making a T34 that everyone can look at and agree "yes that looks like a t34", cos there were so many variations, not just the 76 and 85 gun changes, the actual turret design changes somewhat as well. Also the number and location of the turret hatches changed during the history of the tank.
The bigest problem I have however is my 3D program. it is very cheap (it came free with corel draw 8, which I got free with my computer) but it can only handle certain objects, for example it can only extrude shapes from a basic drawing plain, and you can only make small adjustments in the extrusion envelope.
I would love it if I could make 3d models of professional quality, but using free software, its just not possible

Thanks for the tip, but as time goes on I am finding ways around the limitations of my 3d program. I am working my way through the WWII units focusing on the Russian tanks, But after talking to the art guys at firaxis Iv'e decided to wait and see what WWII units are released with PTW.
So my last WWII units are going to be a set of t34 variants (my favourite tank of all time) and a T35 (unlikely to be included in a WWII units set because of the fact that it was obsolete by the begining of WWII).
SO when the editor comes out there should be the following fully animated russian units available for scenario designers;
KV1 +KV2
T34/76 and T34/85
SU100 tank killer
T35
IS2
ISU152 heavy tank killer
Here is a preview of my models for the updated T34, I thik you will agree that they are a big improvement on my first attempt.
The first is the t34/76 A (1940 production model)
the second is the t34/85 and the third is the SU100 tank killer based on the t34 chassis. The blue is civ colour so that in a post war scenario the units can be used by Russian allies without confusion;
