Good work, Sir Ralph!
Some additions.
Even more leaders
Handsome Lake (the Seneca prophet, warrior name unknown)
Garangula
Hasanoanda (Ely parker)
Atasatha (Kryn; "the Great Mohawk")
Towns, not on Firaxis' list either
Onondaga (the capital of the League until burnt down by the French in 1696)
Teyagon (Toronto)
Oswegatchie (Ogdensburgh; Sawehkatsi)
Buffalo Creek

Missing are also some important cities that ARE on Firaxis' list, such as Allegany, Grand River, Oil Springs, and Akwesasne (Saint-Regis, double appearance), the Mohawk capital (but not Mauch Chunk (Delaware) and Centralia (Huron)).
Also check for different spellings/names of the same town.

To be honest, those city names all look like they've been created with a random letter mixer...
I don't speak Iroquis and whenever I play them, I like giving my cities english names, like Creek Town, Lake city, Yellow Mountain, Blue Feather Hill etc... that way I can at least somewhat relate.
If I get a wonder production city surrounded by hills and mountains, I call it Magic Mountain ;-) |
You could try to read some Iroquois history and have the city names come to life for you.
With the Iroquois you're in luck as some of the cities have English (or French, even one Spanish and Scandinavian) names, too, so for now you could have at least the following real towns:
Toronto, Port Hope, Salamanca, Oil Springs, Saint-Regis, Brantville, Salt Saint-Louis, Lac des Deux Montagnes, Ogdensburgh, Buffalo Creek. Probably quite a few more, I haven't really looked. (Note that there are lots and lots of American towns that have Iroquois or other native names.)
What names do you give the cities of other civs whose language you don't speak?
Skennen!

Wow! I'm impressed that you can get so many city names for the Iroquois. And being expansionist, they definitely need them.
