Small Exploit Remove this text

I dont know if this has been mentioned before but if you hit f to fortify a unit but quickly hit a move key after the f, the unit will fortify on the square you moved it to. This works will all units with any movement points.

I dont believe this is new with the patch because I got it to work on my old saved games but that might not mean anything.

Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Seeing as fortifying units doesn't require any movement points as it did in Civ2, this isn't much of an exploit.

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

I have noticed it before, but I find that it often fortifies the unit AND the next unit.

I don't really see how it's an exploit. what do you get from it?

Suffering from ads?

I don't think that Civ III has any advantages to fortifying a unit over having it sit there. (Other than not needing to see it every turn.)

If a unit is fortified but doesn't have any movement points left, it has no effect on combat results. (so you wouldn't get a bonus until next turn...)

Support Apolyton, buy Call to Power 2

Is there any difference between fortifying a unit with 1 movement point and one with more points, defense-strength wise? That would make some sense, but I have never heard anything about it yet...

Put an end to popups!

There should be. I recall it being on THE LIST. But I don't think Firaxis implemented it.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Hmm, thanks Soren. The AI often fortifies its units, even if they have 0 movement left. For example, spearmen that escort settlers almost always fortify themselves after their move. So, if I understand correctly, they receive no fortifying defense bonus?
