He should have locked the thread and stated the policy against piracy. Why tell people to use another method to do something wrong. At least just don't say anything. But this was the equivalent of "go drink off school property". At least say nothing...no reason to encourage people...

I don't expect Ming to stop piracy elsewhere. But at least not actively encourage it.

Agreed. but you should simply tell them not to discuss piracy on the site. Not tell them to do so, elsewhere.
