paiktis22, Thanks for posting the article on Le Pen. Clearly as of 1993, he was no friend of Israel. I wonder why the attitude change if today he holds the opposite view.
Are there any polls to indicate how the French electorate is leaning?

Chirac will win with overwhelming majority. At least that's what the polls say and I think, this time, they are right.

Korea is still a problem I grant you, but we are keeping an eye on them. As for the others, it's not our job to tell everyone what sort of government to have, we take an interest when they threaten their neighbors or us. There are bad governments in many places in the world, so we pay more attention to those whose policies have negative effects on us and out allies.

Still nothing to do with the hatred of many American toward leftists. |
Akka, I don't know if "hatred" is the right term. I believe that many American's disagree with a lot of what the radical left has to say, such as state ownership of the means of production.
We are used to discussing ideas in the United States. We actually defend the right of even the Communists to speak openly. However, most Americans do not take their economic theories seriously, but rather regard them as somewhat laughable.
In actual fact, I believe so-called "workers" are better off here in United States than anyplace else the world. If you would believe communist propaganda, this would be impossible to due to the capitalist nature of our economy.
Once upon a time, Communism was not merely a benign economic theory advanced by the left in democratic societies. It was an aggressive "religion" that was actively being spread by communists throughout the world. The USSR gave it financing and support in its cold war with the U.S. It was a real threat to the continued existence of democracies.
Now, you would argue, and correctly, that the U.S. propped up corrupt anti-communist dictatorships to keep many countries from going communist. Obviously, this was wrong morally and wrong strategically as the people of these countries ended up hating us. Hopefully, we have learned our lesson.
