Idiot-proof installation of mods, units, etc. Support Apolyton

Ok, people, I need some help, here. I've up 'till now just been playing Civ III as is with the patches. I've never even clicked on the Editor shortcut to see what I could do.

Now I'm reading through these forums and over at CivFanatics and I'm seeing some great looking terrain, units and whatnot and I'm thinking to myself, "Man that'd be really cool." But I don't have a clue how to install the stuff or, when I do, what I'd have to do to un-do it if I don't like it.

I guess I had in mind looking for some sort of dummy-proof instructions on using the mods and files people plst on here.

Can anyone help me out? I REALLY appreciate it!

Support Apolyton buy from Amazon

Probably the easiest mods are to install new terrain graphics. Most people seem to agree that they improve the look of the game immensely. Download them (I recommend snoopys terrain files), unzip, then simply copy the files into same directories as the originals in the Civ3 directory.

If you want to keep the originals, add a prefix such as "def" to the name BEFORE you copy the files over to the Civ3 directories.

Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

Or better just copy the original files in a sub directory called "backup"

For installing MODs and MAPs just download them, unzip them and copy them into the Scenarios directory.

If you have problems finding where to put the right files in the right positions most MOD and GRAPHIC zip have a readme file that tells in which directory to copy them..... but remember to Backup the original ones
