	Mac Attack Avatar Enlargement: We've got the solution

Okay - I'm prepared to wait for the patch. I love the game. I'm not prepared to shell out for OSX in order to get the editor. Why no editor for OS9 etc.? Why no multiplayer? (moan whinge) . thanks alot - I feel better now.

Now dont you wish you had bought a PC instead of a MAC I was a mac user (still am at work sometimes) but I bought my first PC to play civ2.

I use to have a mac, and I liked it a lot. I think that they are great computers, but when it comes to games, for a long time apple has ignored this section of the market. I was reading an article on gamespy I think about how apple has now focus on game market for macs and the things they are doing to incourage devolopers to make games for macs. One of the reasons I got a pc when the time came to get a new computer was that there are very little games for macs.

That's assuming the expansion pack will even be ported to the Macintosh platform. I sure as heck hope it's ported, 'cause I'm going to order Civ III from Amazon as soon as I select the new iMac model I want (within the next two weeks).

Hmm ... only problem is, the eMac is for educational institutions and their students. I might have qualified four years ago at university, but not now. I graduated, you see, and have a full-time job in my field of study.

So no eMac for me. I'll have to pay full price for an 800mhz iMac model. Oh well.

I understand you're under a hush-hush and all that panag... but what of your opinion things that HAVE been released... such as the new .mac system.

Is it worth the 50-100/year given the things they're offering now (and without saying what they're offering within the year)?

"PTW" is "Play the World," which is the Civ III XP that will allow for MP while also adding eight new civilizations and some other refinements to the original Civ III.

I am hopeful PTW — along with 1.29 — will come to the Mac. If not ... hmm ... well, it'd be a sad day. For me and Apple Computer, 'cause my bucks might have to do the walking. Elsewhere.

Well, I don't call myself a CivIIIer yet...

*nods* I agree it would be bad, Gatekeeper. I wouldn't be surprised if, when sales are seen on the PTW XP side that PTW will come over to the Mac.

I'll continue to keep my fingers crossed, because MP is what I'm waiting for in that game... I hate buying a game only to find out that there are patches going to be released for it that will make it better and then find out there's something like Civ II: MPG...

Of course, that means I unfortunately have to hold out for a while...

ones you get to know its limitations , ...it can become a shock to civ2 players , ....

PTW isn't likely to come out on the Mac, is it?

On news though... anybody hear some G5 rumors? From the looks of things on the market, they're going to be 64-bit!

Have you heard anything about PtW coming to the Macintosh? All I've heard is that it isn't guaranteed right now, which pisses me off because Civ is the one game I'd like to be able to play *completely* on the Mac.

Would one still be able to play Civ II w/OS10.2? Is the Classic OS bundled in with the newest?

That's what I've heard about PtW for Mac too...

It's so and that they're doing it... but supposedly, from how the article was written here at 'poly, PtW might not be compatible cross-platform thanks to some idea of using a Windows-based process to multiplay...

As far as Civ II w/OS 10.2... since I don't have OS X.2 I'm not sure... however I'm pretty sure it would work under Classic, though I think with X.2 you also now need to seperatly and previously owned OS 9, because I don't think it ships with X.2.

I don't have a copy of OS9.2 ... still using 8.5.1. So if I'd get a new Mac with 10.2 pre-installed, I'd have to hunt down a copy of 9.2 and then, I imagine, partition the HD just so I could play Civ II in the Classic mode.

And if we end up w/o the PtW XP and the 1.29 patch for Civ III ... well, it takes away one big reason for me to stay w/Apple. Heh. I'm one of those "consumer" types who could do just as well with a PC, but choose the Mac. Dadgummit, if TPTB fail to bring PtW and 1.29 over, it's not much for me (well, right now anyway) to drop $600 to $1600 for a PC and go that route instead. I've been told by other Mac enthusiasts that Dell Dimensions are pretty good.

Anyway, the whole thing is aggravating, IMHO.
