	I Suck at deity level! Why! Support Apolyton, buy GURPS/ Alpha Centauri

Hi everyone,

Probably you have heard his one before but anyway.

I am the US or english in deity level, the AI constantly kicks me hard with his technology rate. The expansion with towns or units is no problem and I always end up with more than they but the thing I don't get is how the AI is getting his new techs so fast, i can't beat him. ARgh,,,

Do you have any magic advice?

	Put an end to popups!

Decrease you science spending, increase your money output and get as much money as possible (roads, trading, market place, bank, Adam Smith). Instead of researching the tech yourself its much easier to buy it from somebody. That usually works if you have enough money or if you can trade luxury.
The Great Library helps as well in the beginning. So if you aim for that, don't bother investing in buying techs but concentrate on building the GL. After you get that one, techs come in for free until somebody gets Education.
Even if you can't build the GL because you don't have the tech yet, build a palace somewhere and then switch to GL as soon as it's available.
In general trading is the key for getting techs

Lucilla is right: money is the key to everything in civ3 - bribes for military alliances, keeping the AI off your back, tech trading, you name it...

those civs don't exactly give you the most advantageous UU's. I haven't tried Diety yet either, but when I make it to that level I won't opt for a F15 or Men-o-War as my UU!

The US is probably the WORST Civ to play, and England is not good eigther. If you like Military Strategies pick a good EARLY UU, otherwise pick a Scientific (& save 120 shields on all cities with Libraries & Universities) or an Industrious Civ.
