Never trust a Brit used submarine salesman Support Apolyton

So Canada decided to save some money by buying some used submarines from the Brits. It seemed like a great idea at the time cause everyone knows that you lose 30 per cent of the sub's value in depreciation the minute you pull away from sales dock.

But the Brits sold us some lemons.

First, we found out that one of the subs has a major dent on its hull (the Brits naturally say it must have happened after the sub left the lot).

Now two of the subs are in drydock with cracked engine valves.

Seesh, you'd think the Canadian navy would have checked this stuff out.

Thank you Tuby. I'm sure the Canadian submariners will remember to take that into account the next time they bag an American CVA in an excercise.

Hey GP. Give us some of those Los Angeles class attack subs and see what some real sailors can do with them.

Got spare money?

Actually, the deal is still pretty good for Canada in all likelihood. The cost of the subs and the repairs together will be far less than the cost of building our own.

And AMOF, yes. We are presenting Her Majesty with a bill.

Amazingly, the Aussies spent their hard-earned cash on subs designed by Sweden...who had never built a "full-size" sub before.

Must be much like buying a first generation Honda Pick-up Truck, I suppose.

Anyway...where was I?

Really GP? I never heard about that.

The government here really sucks when it comes to supporting our guys in uniform. The current government cancelled a deal to buy new helicopters out of pure political spite for the previous government. Our air crews have been forced to fly in death traps ever since. And yes, a few have died.

My ship caused a bit of an incident in Esquimalt (Victoria). Several liberty incidents and a release of steam from emergency cooling initiation on the reactor after we screwd up and lost flow...

Not my fault on those. Ok. I was along for the liberty incidents...they weren't that bad...

So the truth comes out. You were the guy asleep at the steam switch... I might know a few people who want to talk to you.

I'll bet the refusal puzzled them (the RCMP).

'No sir. This a United States Navy nuclear vessel. You do not have clearance to come aboard'
