Yeah, there were at least a few adequate replies, although some of you seem to have been short before sending me to a shrink. When I said "It's only one beer but it might lead to...." Well. When GP states his concern I would lend an ear. Both he and I are a bit older and have lived with and seen the effects. He probably more than I.

I believe he is genuinely concerned for the welfare of anyone here he decides to talk to. So am I.

Maybe I just read between the lines better than others did. Or maybe I am full of sh*t and don't know you well enough while others were right in being concerned.

Alcohol can be a serious problem for some people. However, I seriously doubt that someone who is young, who has no back ground of substance abuse, who has no history of abuse in the family, can be seriously effected by enjoying a beer by himself in the wee hours of the night.

When you are young, you are immortal. Enjoy that. Just keep your head about you so that you survive your immortality.

Virtually nobody around me objects if I choose to consume 35 units of alcohol during a party and a trip to town, but as soon as people find out I'm having a couple drinks alone, they regard me as a person taking his first steps towards alcoholism. Now - Ecthelion - if you can't get it out of your head, keep your skin clean, get some sun, buy some cool clothes, get your hair cut, get yourself together, seek out some 17-year-old cutie on ICQ, do some online-flirting, invite her over when you can be alone and get the ritual over with. But the important thing is that Ecthelion you're a virgin because you're acting like the biggest loser in Germany. Your current status regarding your social and sexual relations is a result of you not doing what you have to do -as a matter of fact, I have an ackward feeling you're not doing anything at all.

Yeah, the sex bit might seem frustrating at the moment but you're hardly the first 18-year old with that problem. At least 1/3 of the boys in your age group are having the same "problem". Most of them lying about it because. Sure, myself wasn't a virgin at 18 but that didn't mean I had a sexlife so if you ignore the techinicality about virginity there's more still in your situation. In that regard it's nothing wrong with you, you're perfectly normal.

I don't have a clue why you wouldn't want to do anything if you're desperate enough to pull this thread off. Just realize that your situation can be changed easily through the use of various methods and acting, so it really is nobody's fault but your own if you're not getting what you want. I'm sure this all sounds very patronizing, but that really isn't the intent... I haven't found the meaning of life any more than the next guy. I do, however, know how the vast majority of teenage girls think which is also the reason I really don't bother with them.

Monk - the matter is not whether or not you've found the meaning of life, but whether you're trying to find it or not. I have found most of the people around me have never done any of the thinking I do, about how stuff works in life, or the world... so I take it all I have to do is turn into another simple person (Kindermensch as Hesse called them haven't read Siddharta in English though ), but that can't be it, there must be a better way to it...

oh, and an example for you guys who say it's so easy to get to talk to a girl etc.: why is it girls keep looking away from me intentionally when I try and catch their look. I mean this is not something paranid, they realize I'm there, then look away. As in "go away, perv!". every single one.
