Yes, but the Hanging Gardens, as described in ancient documents, has not been found in the ruins of Babylon, but a structure which could have held the 7-story heavily watered structure has been found in Nineveh. Plus, there are indications that Nineveh had a device similar to the Archimedes screw pump, while Babylon had no such technology and would have had to use hand-operated cantilever-basket pumps, to raise the water seven stories (very heavy labor cost). It is certain that Nebuchadnezzar II constructed a glorious garden as a gift to his Medean wife (Babylon was dry desert with fertile rivers, while Medea was generally ferttile, lush, and green), but the structure described as "the Hanging Gardens" was likely in Nineveh. As you mention, most royalty did have spectacular private gardens.

Wherever it was, it was destroyed before the descriptions we have currently available were written, the original list being lost to the ages. All we have are derivative works stemming from a poem about the wonders. It is entirely possible that the poet had trouble rhyming "Nineveh" and figure "Babylon" was close enough.

the only thing that was to be brought forward was the fact that the hanging gardens should stay , ....there have been gardens like that in the entire "old" world , so , .....
of course we could open a new thread about the gardens only , .......

All but one of the original seven Greek wonders of the world are lost to history. The only reason the pyramids are still there is their shear size, though the polished marble exterior has been plundered.
