Sava: Then you can't really judge, can you? If you enjoy (console-style) RPGs, then pretty much the only fault with the Final Fantasy series is that the general combat engine hasn't ever had too major an overhaul since 1991. This doesn't mean much though, because Square has continued to put out innovative products that mixed things up, just not under the Final Fantasy label, which they've kept for more traditional console RPGs.
Baldur's Gate I give grudging respect for. Not exactly my type of game (I prefer the story of console RPGs over the freedom of computer RPGs), but I think it mostly deserved its rankings.
We forget it now, but Might & Magic VI: The Mandate of Heaven actually got good reviews back when it came out, comparable to Baldur's Gate. It didn't deserve them, but I can't honestly say it's a bad game, merely a mediocre one that doesn't have enough respect for its source materials.
Civ3 I'd be highly tempted to write, except my feelings from reading what people say at Apolyton has caused me not to buy it. So I can't judge.
Diablo II is surprisingly addictive and a good game, and I'll stand by that. Would never have bought it had I not seen my roommate playing it, of course.
Warlords II was given highly various views, but I remember at least 1 computer gaming magazine giving it 5 stars and declaring it some kind of classic for all time. I only played the demo, and the main problem with the game is that it is outright worse to its competitor Heroes II in pretty much every way (and it has the stupidest combat engine ever for a game of this type), even if the game is okay. Still not worthy enough yet.
Myst is the easy choice, but again I haven't played enough of it, and it is supposed to be half-decent, just worse in every way except graphics from the much superior LucasArts adventure games.
Black & White may be a sucky game, but it was a noble try, and had one of the most interesting AI engines to be in a game. Another game whose virtues are best appreciated from afar, not actually playing the game.
So who does my vote go for? I say Diablo I. I can say this in all honesty because I liked Diablo II quite a bit, but Diablo I is pretty much all the filler from D2 without the meat. No skills, only 3 classes, the same easy strategy, not enough fun equipment, one dungeon which gets quite boring after awhile... probably one of the most boring games I've ever seen. All the fun of clipping your toenails. And it got great reviews for being Nethack with graphics, except without all the fun things you could do in Nethack. Diablo II is about a 100 times better than this crud.

How many times do I need to say it? ITS NOT THE DESIGNER'S FAULT!!! That crock of a game we call Ultima Ascension was the reason Garriott left Origin afterwards. It was an extremely promising game, but EA threatened to pull the plug if it wasn't released by Christmas 1999. Despite obviously needing much more work, Origin had no choice but to comply, since they'd already worked years on it, and it would be a senseless waste to see some greedy corporation pull the plug and waste all that effort.
Anyway, I say anything by Id, apart from Wolfenstein and DOOM is completely overrated. Especially Quake III.

While what you say is true, it is not just the bugginess that is the problem. The entire game concept and design, from start to finish, was terrible. At its core, it was a badly-conceived game. That is indeed the fault of the designers, and they share the blame with the corporate buffoons.

Red Alert got mentioned 3 times but noone said anything about Tiberian Sun? To me as a fan of the original C&C the only game in that Series I did not like was Tiberian Sun, even though I prefer the C&C universe to the Red Alert scenario.
TS was unballanced (NOD artillery) boring/slow and in many ways not well designed (the transformable terrain). It was highly overrated, too at least in every preview I read, Westwood even made fake screenshots for those.
