Open a duplicate window and enter the chat room. If there is no one talking, don't leave right away. Make an announcement. If you get no repsonse, minimize and than go check the rest of the forums. Others may be doing the same.

FYI: There is no bell to tell you when people enter or speak. So just check back occasionally.

You can get it to play a sound when people enter or leave, apparently. Click th pin button ont he right, and it's an option in the page that pops up.

Granted, I don't know if it works or not...
