symbol Support Apolyton, buy Galactic Civilizations: Deluxe Edition

Hello,

What does a white shield symbol next to a city name lable on the main map screen mean?

I can't seem to find an answer in the game manual or the library.

Alan

Tired of ads?

It means that the city has a unit in it (It symbolises defense).

I have a city on the map with a mounted archer in it and there is no shield next to the city name.

J Bytheway, where did you get the information about the shield symbol?

Thank you for your time and help.

Err... I just assumed. The shield will not appear sometimes if the unit itself is visible - the game presumably reckons that it's obvious there's a unit there and it needn't tell you. If you've a city with defense you can't see and no shield then perhaps I'm wrong.

The unit has to be fortified inside the city for the shield to appear.

Yup. That seems to be it. It shows fortified units in a city.

I would still like to know where that information can be found.

It seems to me that Civ. CTP has a lot of undocumented parts that you just have to figure out.

Is that the case?

I don't think it can be found anywhere. As J Bytheway said, it's easily figured out through common sense (but maybe it's in the strategy guide?).

I dunno, I don't think an awful lot is undocumented. Most of the undocumented stuff is about modding the game, but that's to be expected and adequately solved by the huge piles of info here on Apolyton. The only really major undocumented thing that i can think of is the fact that Slavers can capture enemy soldiers if they're part of a stack that wins a battle. Other than that, it's just minor things like this, I think...

I'm afraid this one IS documented!

However, you may want to check out some of CTP's idiosyncrasies in the ctp-multiplaying forum. Here's a threat to get you started: Multiplayer Strategy Guide
