"As for your comment about the Hebrews....
a) Do you discount the impact of religion on world history?
b) They did a lot more... for example, much of middle age commerce depended on Jewish merchants and money-lenders, in both the Arabian and European worlds"

Sorry for late reply but out of the possible civs, I just don't feel that starting a monotheic religion (or 2 or more, don't really know) is enough to get in the game. The Jewish moneylenders are Jews, not Hebrews, so I feel that comment is a bit bizarre. Also the West African kingdoms (Ghana, Mali, Songhai) also had a part of the Mddle Age commerce because they SUPPLIED most of the gold needed for commerce. Sure religion has been very important in history, but other civs haven't made a song and dance about it and it would be a shame if a civ was chosen on religion instead of great constructions, achievements, social reforms, etc.

All I am saying is that I would prefer another civ like the Koreans to the Hebrews because I believe they are more impressive in their history and science, not their religion (which by the way I am an atheist so I don't really believe any of that hoo-ha)

Oh yeah, thanks for correcting me on that Arabic numbery thingy. I didn't know, just one of my history teachers said they were Arabic inventions

I am sicking to the generally accepted list of Arabs, Turks, Koreans, Celts, Vikings, Spanish, Carthaginians and MONGOLS (yay!) because there is enough evidence to suggest that as the list

hi ,

as for the numbers , the Jews where the first people to name them , to count from one to ten , and the first people with a complete alphabet , .....complete with "vowel specific intonations" , .....on top of that they had , and still have untill this very day , the same , and they managed to get the books in the same version , in the same language around most of the world of those days , ....also , they never said anything about earth being flat , .... , .....they new the star signs , the fact that the moon turns around the earth , the fact that both turn around the sun , ....intresting that in the same time period the Egyptians believed other things , ......as one can see a huge difference , maybe this should be more reflected in civ3 , ......meaning that two or more civ's live next door from eachother , yet they go on completely different ways of living , science , etc , .....

have a nice day
