	Crashes almost right away. Got spare money?

Sometimes, when I run Civ3, I get as far as the first intro to Firaxis, the white starts to show, and the sound is growing, then everything stops, frozen permenantly. Does anyone know how to fix it, the only thing I can do is restart my computer to get it to work...

Im fairly certain that my video drivers are the problem, I reverted from the most current version of the Detenator drivers to the most previous version, the reason being I was trying to get more FPS out of CounterStrike, now that that is working better, this freezing thing happens, most of the time its after quiting a HalfLife game...

Anyone ever heard of this problem? Is my only fix to upgrade my drivers back? Help!

	Enter the AD-FREE zone

Try adding the following lines to your Civiliazation3.ini file:

Keepres=1
Video Mode=1024
Refresh=60

That didnt work, I waited till it happened, went out and did wut you said but it still does the same thing...

Any other suggestions?

I meant add the lines permanently to your ini file, before the problem arises. Has it happened since?

You might want to reboot then before you play Civ III. Specially if you aren't using Windows 2000 or XP. Extra specially if you are running Windows ME.

Using the latest drivers is usually a good idea. Is the version you are having this problem with a leaked beta for instance? Those are more likely to have problems.

Also if you are using the original version of the game there was a problem with some of the Nividia drivers so you should istall the latest patch for the game, 1.21f.

I did put those lines in my .ini file permentantly, but it didnt work after I tried it.

If Civ3 doesnt crashes, my only option is to reboot.

I have all Civ3 patches - I am one version prior to the most recent Detenator Drivers b/c they work better with CS.

I am on Win2000 and have 256RAM.

Ill prolly try upgrading my drivers as I am now getting some graphic problems with GTA3... >
