Can I express my opinion without being trolled by Cal, GP, or SuperSneak??



I am not sure if this was a racist joke, or a joke about racism.

In either case, I do not find it funny --- even though I understand the joke, with the car's driver going in reverse to make sure the "n**ger" was dead.

As it stands, the joke is about hating blacks, but you could change the focus of the joke. For example, if you change it so that instead of just another car aproaching the black man, he has the misfortune of encountering a pick up truck full of yokels on their way to a KKK meating, then the joke would be more about rascism then simply "running that nigger over". And, in my opinoin, it would also make this joke aproach being funny.

Funar (romanian nationalist mayor of Cluj) is walking by : "Hey, old man, don't drink from there, the water is not good". The old man "Nemtodom (I don't know/I don't understand - in hungarian). IMO to enjoy a racist joke you must be a little racist. The more you enjoy this kind of jokes, the more racist you are. OTOH if you enjoy racist jokes a little AND enjoy the jokes about racists more (like this picture) that make you just human.
At least I like to belive that because I realise that I a just a little racist, misogin etc. But as long I can equally enjoy a good joke about blonde and a good feminist joke I think is OK.

I think it depends on how the joke is told. Either way the joke is a joke about racist attitudes. But depending on how it's told it could be tacitly endorsing this kind of behavior. If Chris Rock is telling it, I think it's more a joke ON the racism. If some redneck tells it, I assume that there is a least a little oidentification with the racism.

Coincidentally, I heard more racist jokes in finland than I've heard total in the U.S.

The problem with that joke is, we don't know what the speaker is intending to say. We could assume that the speaker is saying that blacks deserve to be hurt more, or he is saying that people are racist. After reading that, my thoughts turned toward the former. Imho totally tasteless, and racist.

Now that you're talking about it, a black man laying on the road would stand more chances of being trampled over than a white man, because his color would make him harder to distinguish from asphalt than a white guy.

This of course is only true for relatively new roads and dim lighting. In a desert road in noon, the white guy would fit in better, since the road will tend to be shining.

The joke was kind of funny but when I first heard it the one who got backed over was a Finn. Now that was funny!

Anyway I don't like to make fun of any group of people because that is the first step usually that leads to worse things. On the other hand, we should learn to laugh at ourselves (especially if we are Finnish like Stefu).

I don't get it. Why is it that every time I start a thread, someone ends up talking about Finnish people dying?

It's like a law of nature around here. Stefu's Law - In all threads Stefu starts, someone will advocate or at least talk about Finns dying or being killed off.
