	Is this joke racist? Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

I've just been wondering. It really needs to be told, with sound effects and all, but writing will suffice.

Three men, two white and one black, were hitchhiking. No car stopped for them, and they started to get quite tired. Finally, one of whites said "If I lay on the road, we'll surely get a car to stop for us." So he went to lay on the road. Soon a car approached.

Vroooooo*thump**thump*oooooooooooooooom

The two others dragged the body out of the road and waited some more. Finally the other white said 'You know, it might have been because that other guy was so small. Maybe I'll try the same as he." He went to lay on the road. Soon a car approached.

The black guy dragged the body out of the road and waited som more. Finally he thought "What the heck, what do I have to lose?" and went to lay on the road. Soon a car approached.

It helps if you're telling it in person. You can simulate the car movements with your hand.

Basically, with whites, the car drives over them and continues, with the black guy, the car drives over them, stops, backs over them, stops, drives over them again and continues.

Too bad it wasn´t a jew instead of a black man. Then you could shout "ANTISEMITE!" again...

It's racist. Any distinction between people based on skin colour is. But then things like AA is racist too, a whole darn lot more harmful to society, and at least equally stupid.... and nobody gives a damn.

So the real problem is that it not only racist but tasteless too.

This is a joke about racism, but IMO not a racist joke. It doesn't identify a stereotype and poke fun at it, which is what a racist joke has to do.

I agree with Mr.WhereItsAt. A joke about racism isn't necessarily a racist joke. Doesn't make it particularly funny, either.

The joke IS racist because is the black guy who got it. In Romania I heard the same joke, just that there is not a black guy, is a hungarian.

You can't, but we don't have too many blacks. Anyway, I am sure that some guys tell the joke with a gipsy in the role. And you can tell apart a gipsy from a non-gipsy.

Of course, that short page can't tell everything possible about our beloved Esko Aho. (Well, technically he is beloved, if you count only middle-aged male farmers who go to church 3 times a week and fear that homosexual immigrants sent by EU are coming to take their farm subsidies away.)

Only good thing about Esko Aho is that he isn't Paavo Väyrynen. But I really shouldn't swear like that with minors present.

Well, I guess that answers your question - it's a rascist joke.

It's not like rascism is ever logical in the first place, so technicalities like that don't matter - all that matters in the 'joke' is that you get to hear about your least favorite ethnicity being run over by a car multiple times.


Although I agree that jokes about rascism aren't inheritely rascist - this isn't one of those jokes. This joke is not about rascism, it's just an excuse to have whoever you hate run over by a car.

Besides, it's not funny anyways.

Umm, that's not what I meant.

What I meant is that Hungarians and Romanians look similar, so racist auto-drivers couldn't make decisions like "Hmm, there's a Romanian, I'll drive over him once" and "Hmm, there's a Hungarian, I'll drive over him multiple times".

Well, I might not have payed attention to that if I had just been told the joke. I was just idly wondering about it after seeing Mihai telling about it.

And anyway, how can you tell it isn't a funny joke? You can't very well give a joke an universal funniness quotient - some people see some jokes as funny and others see other jokes as funny. Maybe it's just you perceiving it as racist and thus deciding it isn't funny.
