I am starting a new SMAC PBEM for 4-7 players.
The map will be randomly generated: large or huge (depends on how many players we get), average everything, all victory conditions. No AI. Directed research.
Also, everyone will get an extra colony pod and scout at the start of the game, to speeds things up.
We would need CMN here too. There shouldn't be too much work for CMN on random map.
Basic requirements:
1. Everyone must post at the turn tracking thread after every turn (With the exception of when the boards are down)
2. No dropping out, please.
3. Promise of playing the turn quickly. (At least 1turn /day)
4. Leave your email if you want in.

Perhaps I should take Morgans. I have never played with em (usually Hive or Gaians), but Morgans seem to be fun. So now we have:
Gaia . . Chaunk
Hive . . Phobos...
Univ . . smhfan86
Morgan . . Fromage
So Spartans, Peacekeepers and Belivers are still free.

I copy past the rules from other thread. Are these rules ok for everyone?
Game conditions are:
all winning conditions - yes
do or die - yes
look first - no
tech stagnation - no
spoils of war - no
directed research - yes
no unity survey
random scattering of Unity pods
Random events - yes
Suggested play rules:
• Communications - no communications before contact
• Retro-engineering - OK, except for using the probe rover chassis before discovering Doc. Mobility
• SE switches "quickies" forbidden - (obviously you can experiment to see what effect various SE choices have, but cannot change, play moves, then change back in the same turn)
• Council notification - immediate broadcast to all players (Post in the thread and e-mail in advance to all by player who anticipates calling the elections, citing candidates and votes. After each player's turn, post in the thread the running totals)
• Stockpiling in Qs anytime - OK
• Crawlers Upgrade anytime - OK
• Probe actions: Must choose vendetta option when probing other players, rebuke if a pactmate
• Cannot use the right click feature for multiple drop moves to extend range (ie limited to 8 tiles unless owning the Space Elevator SP)
• Cannot use the 'set waypoint' feature for automatic worm hunting/lifecycle enhancements
• Must 'Accept' or 'Decline' an offered Pact or Treaty that the other player has indicated 'Accepted' before exiting the diplo box and playing the turn (i.e. no accepting pending treaties/pacts *after* declaring vendetta in the same turn )
• Cannot use the F4 feature (or the bases feature of the F2 screen) to change an infiltrated faction's workers to specialists

In first message was: "Also, everyone will get an extra colony pod and scout at the start of the game, to speeds things up.
"
Forgot to mention level. I hope "Librarian Level" is ok for everyone?

MA, It's exactly like hotseat. Probably a good idea to start a hoteseat game for yourself and to get familiar with the diplomatic interface.
Most rulesets prohibit base trading with the AI, though they allow gifting and extorting. There is no mechanism for trading or ceding bases between humans in the multiplayer diplomacy system. All base exchanges must be done by conquest.
Nor is there an automatic loan repayment mechanism between humans. If you lend another human ec, you depend upon his honor to repay the loan.

Sure you can do that.

This is for the new players; When you will get the first turn, play it like usually. When turn ends, it asks next players password. Don't write anything there.
- Just save the game with name like "Red Hive 2101" (Red [next players faction] [year]
- Zip the save file
- Send it to the next player. There will be turn tracking thread, so post a message there after you have played your turn. Then everyone knows where the turn is moving.
Also, try to play the turns as soon as possible. There are six people waiting. Of course everyone will have holidays or some other delays. If you are away from computer over 48h, you should post a message on forum, so everyone knows about the delay.
I think that's all.

That should be everyone, if the CMN is ready to start the game and assign passwords.

Already mailed to CMN couple of hours ago. First player should get his turn any time now.
I made turn reporting thread here:
