	Candle'Bre Public Chat Session! Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

Assorted members of the Candle'Bre development team (... well ... at least Vel anyway, the others will be there if they're available I'm sure ...) will be in the Apolyton Chat Room on Saturday June 8th to answer your questions, take your suggestions and brainstorm ideas about the project. There will be plenty of cyber-snackages and we can all hang out and have a jolly nice time.

The Chat will start at around 5pm EST and will finish when everyone goes home.

We hope to see you all there.

Coolimus Maximus! And as to troublemakers....::shrug:: well, I hope not, but if we do....we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

In general, my plan though is to try and keep everybody focused in on the game, and generate some real excitement about the possibilities.

If we find that we get lossa troublemakers, we'll simply stick to forum discussions for the most part, but I'm thinking that people will see the chat for what it is...a real, hands-on opportunity to help shape the game....should keep the trolls to a minimum...

Ok. But it was a legitimate question about working team meeting versus meeting with the community. You would get different things out of both of those types of chats.

You could always just let it go whichever way it works out based on attendance...

Quite so, and that's prolly how we'll play it, but what I'm hoping to do is to make this the first of many creative jam sessions that will accomplish the following:

1) Involve an ever-increasing number of people in the project....get people talking and thinking about Candle'Bre

2) Generate some real excitement, not only in the ongoing creative process, but in the idea of things to come.

3) Begin with this step, to prove that we're not just payingn lip service to the idea of listening to the fans who want this thing to succeed.

This then, will represent the first chance (hopefully of many...that will be based on the success and turnout of the upcoming chat), for people who have been watching so far to come in and tell us what they think.

Are we screwing up? Totally on the right track? What would it take to get us on the right track (in terms of...what kinds of things need to be in the framework of the game--as well as some initial ideas on implementation--to make it really work for the people interested in the project.

Also, what are we doing right? Are we being innovative enough in our planned execution, or should we push the envelope some more? That kinna stuff and more....

Ok Vel, it sounds like the goal is to have more of an interact with the fans and less of an interact with the team meeting. as long as you get enough people to show up, you should be fine.

I suggest sneakliy getting some buzz going on the Civ3, Civ2 strat, PTW, MOO3 and RON forums. Don't start threads cause that will get you banned but try to work it into the conversation. Umm...send Skanky but get him to be a little more subtle than normal.

It's a pity that all of those threads were moved into this forum. Otherwise they could've been surrepticiously, er, accidentally bumped. Like sleeper agents, waiting for the right time to strike ...

Actually if "somebody" (who may or may not be a mod ) were to ask Markos nicely he might put up an announcement at the top of the individual fora (Does anybody ever read those? ).

I don't know if this is going overboard but you could think about having an agenda.

Team backgrounds and expertise: 10 mins
General goals and schedule: 10 mins
Game concepts: 30 mins
softare/hardware issues: 15 mins
artisticn issues: 15 mins
general discussion: unlimited.

Not something rigid...but a plan to start with for leading the discussion. (My schedule is just a quick try...could think about organizing an agenda in different ways too.)

That is exactly right, we have our own IRC room for team-based chatting, but Apolyton seemed like the most logical place to host our first public chat since many of our fans (and 'trouble-makers' ) are resident here.

Hmmm....well, I've been thinking of a loose agenda then, based on comments here, and came up with....I dunno...*something* to get us started, anyway....I see the meeting as being pretty open ended, with people coming and going at odd times during the course of it (and given that not everyone will arrive just on time), so I'm a little reluctant to stick too firmly to the guesstimates listed here on how long each segment might run, but....I'm committed to sticking around till everybody talked our, or until I run out of vivarin and tea...

* Candle'Bre project background/Team Member Introductions (15 min)

* Goals of the project (15 min)

* Game concepts (30 min)

* Technical issues (software/hardware) (15 mins) - shouldn't really be much here at this point tho

As I see it, the primary purpose of the chat will be to engage those interested in and following our progress in a free-form discussion about Candle'Bre. What it is and where it's going. It represents the first of many opportunities for people not directly related to the project to add their thoughts and ideas to the tapestry of the game.
