Gauls

Obviously Incans. Though the ultimate effect this will have on Firaxis' decision is probably low, I still hope they look and make sure there's a SA civ.

I didn't vote, because I think there should be Maya or another African Civ rather than both the Inca and the Gauls. Firaxis showed that geographic proximity wasn't an issue when choosing a Civ. So I think the Maya should definitely be in, even if they're closer to the Aztecs.

I'd take the Incas over a lot of civs, not just the Gauls... why do we need four Middle East civs and no South American?

I'd prefer it if they had the Celts rather than the Gauls (Gauls just don't seem important enough, Celts is a more general term and applies all over Europe), and some South American civ (preferably Incas). If the choice is between Gauls and Incas I'd stick with Incas personally.

I'm sure that Gauls are not the same as French ... but with only 24 civs to choose from, it seems very odd to pick one that is at least a little redundant. For instance, I wouldn't pick Toltecs AND Aztecs, or Carthaginians AND Phonecians.

I'm sure many many people have already said this ... it just seems such an odd thing to do instead of Celts ...

Definatly incas. But i dont agree that they should be instead of the arabs. That would just be ignorant towards one of the greatest civs of all time.

hi ,

both nations would be the best , ...........

when one has to play on a realistic world map , Gauls between French an Germans , ........hmmm , that aint so good , there is allready so little room , ..........well if the would expand the mapsize , over 256x256 , that would be good , .......

as for now , one vote to the Inca , if it was only to fill in a piece of S-America , .....;hmmm , shall they also be so "evil and naughty" as Montezuma from the Aztec , ............food for thoughts , ....

The Celts built Stone Henge, where the first Europeans to use iron, built the first wide ranging trade network in Europe, developed the first important none mediteranean art work, developed there own written alphabet (Oghman ), were spread from the Black sea to Ireland with some settling as far away as eastern China, and were great warriors that influenced the development of the ancient world.

Well, they only built an empire that was spread from the tip of SA to Middle America. This was built over a mountain range and still could pass messages across the entire empire in ten days. Machu Pichu is not the only Incan city in the clouds. They built farms on the edges of mountains - developing sophistacted techniques. They were so amazing that when the Spanish took over, the empire did not transfer. Cities fell apart and the Inca empire was lost for all time.

Yes. Aztecs give the world (among other things) chocolate, tobacco and tomatoes.
Potatoes, some resistant cotton (Tanguis) and coke come from Incan south America. Of course they not use coke as a drug like today (cocaine), but as a medical supply to diminish the effects that lack of oxygen causes on the high mountains.

OK, I´ll give them that.

But really, this is all a question of PCness and market shares. I reckon Firaxis thinks that a SA civ would boost the sales of CivIII in SA.

Incas. There needs to be a South American civ. I would have also liked to have seen another African Civ (such as Mali). Gauls would seem redundant. Why not have a Norman civ, or a Teuton Civ, or a Magyar Civ, etc. Would be a good choice for an ancient Europe scenario, or a good name for a Barbarian tribe.
