Worst scenario ever? Lose 30 kilos (of popups)

What do you think is the worst scenario for civ, ever? My vote's on "Gambia". I can't remember who its by, but the map is of Gambia and the similarities end there. Units like "TV man" and "Hell Dog" made no sense.

The sounds were especially disturbing. TV Man's attack would spout, in loud blaring child-like screaming:

"I want my TV.... RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Anybody know where this gem is stored?

Please chip in with your votes.

Well . . . Support Apolyton, buy Civilization: The Boardgame

I'm not sure that this scenario would qualify as the worst, exactly, but . . .

That Age of Exploration scenario that came with MGE was a total disappointment. I tried playing it several times. The "Barbarians" weren't barbarians--they were a civ. And that civ would gain techs, as the scenario progressed. After a few turns, the colonizing powers would be totally outclassed and left behind by the "barbarians."

It was NOT good.

And yet, the idea was good, as evidenced by so many subsequent Age of Exploration scenarios produced by individual auteurs.

There was this one scenario I vaguely remember called "Magellan", that was completely f*cked up. It used to be on the SLeague website, but I can't find it now.

Do you mean scenarios that look like they might have taken some effort, or just any scenario...
I think I'd go for Lord of the Flies. The book was very good, and I did think it'd make a good scenario, so I was pleased to see someone made a scenario about it... Not anymore after I started it.

Pretty much all the name of the characters are misspelled, and the entire map consists of a tiny desert/mountain island of about 20 squares. Each of the three "tribes" has one city and a few units, all of the units involved have an attack and defense of 1 or 2, and the only units you can build are settlers. Totally pathetic, especially so because it was made for FW in 1999.

Lord of the Flies absolutely sucks. I think it takes the cake.

I actually had SOME fun in playing with my horde of flying goats in Magellan.

I still remember Blackclove's comments "The Repo Man of scenarios"

I still have Magellan too, if anybody wants it...

The Ascendance of Europe by Nick Holzapfel is an improved version of the -Age of Discovery- scenario. You can get it off my Website: http://www.geocities.com/jacobite1688/downloads.html

The worst scenario I ever played was the -Long XIXth Century- It was pretty good until I realized that England did not produce any millitary units. I tried to make it work myself and eventualy just gave up on it. Too bad.

It is not a scenario, but -Birdilization- is SOOOOOOOOOO bad that it is really pretty good, if you know what I mean.

I did a remake of those scenarios, combining units from both Santa Claus and Bears At Play with quite a few of my own to create War at the North Pole, which is a lot of fun and actually was one of my better beginner scenarios. Try it out, i'm pretty sure you'll like the remake.

While I agree that most of these are losers, that Long 19th Century was one that I played quite a few times when I first started downloading scenarios. I never had a problem producing units as the British, and I played them almost every time.

It is limited, though.

AS the British there is no problem.
If the AI is given the British they wont do jack with them. I spoke with you about this problem when I was trying to repair it and you told me then, as you have here, that the best thing to do was just to play Britian and not let the AI have them. My vote stands...although I have not down loaded every single scenario out there. In fact I have only seriously looked at about 25 or 30 scenarios and I only have about a dozen on my hard drive.

I hope its NOT yours. Does the opening of the readme look like your work:
quote:

This scenario takes as its starting point the situation in Europe as of 1798, more or less. Its beginning is almost exactly the same as the civ2 scenarios pack napoleonic scenario. However, the map is much more detailed, and the game extends far beyond the era of the Napoleonic wars. Using graphics from a number of the scenarios in Civ2 scenarios, this game allows one to play out an alternate 19th century until the early 1920s (for good measure). The highest level of technology is at World War I level.

The worst scenario I played was, I believe, the American Revolutionary War scenario by Gary Lungo. I played the Independence scenario from Microprose and loved that one, even though it was fairly simple. I have always longed for a custom RevWar scenario that's on par with the ACW and WW2 ones, but no one ever made one and Lungo's version sucked.

I disagree, one can go through life afraid of failing and never succeeding, but those that ultimately succeed have learned from their failures. Do you think the Civ2 HoFers never made a bad scenario (or two)? Learning from their mistakes, and from others as well, we have the collection of superb Civ2 scenarios that we all love to play.
