You need to use a push/pull strategy.

What you want is to get back in school. You can and should use publicity as a weapon against the school. But if there is a face-saving way to just apologize and slime back into school, you should do that.

So I would hit them hard...with the publicity and political pressure.* but be willing to throw in the outrage if they will let you back in. That is the smart way to play it.

It sounds like the principle is technically right, but you've got some mitigating factors in terms of
-spentness of the round
-Sunday
-going in to HELP A TEACHER
-perfect record before this.

So I think a tough fight them attitude...followed by a negotiated apology will get you back in.

You get a week off of school (with two to go) for a bullshit charge that will look like a bullshit charge to anybody who reads it, and you're *****ing about it?

#1. It's no big deal. Unless you have a history of offenses, but if it is your first, it is no big deal.

#2. Do you realize how little people will care about what happened in high school when you start interviewing? The odds are that you will never, ever have to bring this up in most any discussion you will have about graduating high school, and I bet that when you discuss it, it will be voluntary on your part - it'll lend you cache.

So don't worry about it and enjoy your week off. Ask your principal if he can defer the sentence to next week though... what do you have to lose? Another week?
