I went into my school today(American public school, im a senior- the school is "open" on sunday, there arent any classes but if students want to meet there for school related activites, or use the schools library or computer lab- also some teachers have extra help classes on Sunday. I ironically went to go meet a teacher im a friend with outside of school and help her move some heavy equipment around in a couple of classrooms).
I helped the teacher I went to meet, and then as I was leaving the school in the hallway the vice principal saw me, yelled at me about my necklace and called the security gaurds....
Several years ago when I went to Israel I bought an interesting necklace which I really like, though I lost it. I found it again yesterday and wore it when I went into school today. It is a bullet hanging from a chain, the bullet is a spent round(its actually a bullet from the 6 day war), it is used. There is no possible way it can be fashioned into a useable bullet again.
The security gaurds "escorted" me to the principals office(they didnt restrain me....just walked with me and the vice principal), and I was told wearing this necklace violates my schools 0 tolerance policy on guns.
I explained that this is a spent round, not a useable bullet and it could not be fashioned INTO a real bullet again without the aid of a machine shop......
Aparently the adminstration in my school fears I am carrying a machine shop(complete with the needed chemicals) in my pockets, or hiding one in my locker.
My locker was searched.
I was suspended for the next week, and told if I wore it again I would be expelled and not graduate(graduation is in 2 weeks).
I wore a used round, totaly useless bullet. It cant be fashioned into a weapon in any way shape or form. I live in suburbia, no gangs exist here and fighting in school isnt a problem.....ONTOP of this I have a perfect behavior record.
Does anyone else think this is insane?

A guy from my class has been wearing bullets as necklaces for years, useable bullets, never had a problem. he's in a gun club etc etc. never been a real problem (apart from being sort of a loner but not really, just a bit crazy the dude) and all the like, noone ever objected.
That country is just weird when it comes to school order. All my class would be considered enemy of state over there. The bullet necklace guy, us metal guys wearing black stuff etc etc. And you think your countrs is so great because it's free?

Yeah, my point is Europe seems to be a lot freer than that AND have a decent welfare. I don't see anymore what might be betterabout that country, even the freedom attitude is nonsense.

"Think about all the people you could have fatally thrown the bullet through. Or think about how many people you could have shot using a bullet that couldn't be shot with a gun you don't own. Clearly you should have been kicked out of the school for good and possibly taken out behind the sauna and shot."
lol.
"E-mail Bill O'Reily or the Troubleshooter Tom Martino. They like this type of thing and can get things done"
I dont really want to sue them or anything......and even if I did by the time it ended my week would be long over.
If I did sue, what do you think I could get out of it?
Also I am religious, and even though they did wrong me, even though its LEGAL do you think i'd be justified in suing them for $$$?

"Ves, the money doesn't matter here. The school will get the bad press from the media, and settle with you to end the suspension if you drop the case."
By the time it got into court though, the suspension would be over.

You have to look at this from their point of view. It really is not that difficult to conceal a machine shop in your locker now days... And think of the children... the poor children. What are they to think if they see a spent bullet around someones neck! This could lead to another Columbine. You better just thank your lucky stars that no one was killed because of you!

"Who cares? We are talking about principals here! Ideals! They deny you a god given right to ...erm... carry a bullet on a necklace."
The principal of waisting my time on court for no gain? =(.
