Browse Apolyton AD-FREE

I like the opportunity to play as and against different civs. That way you don't get burned out as fast.

There are plenty of quality civs available. As more are allowed, Firaxis would have to come up with things to make them different; whether it is more civ traits or more than 2 traits per civ, or other thing(s).

Enter the AD-FREE zone

It gets to the point where you know the strengths and weaknesses of the different civs, and how their leaders will behave, as to be not challenging.

I know Japan will sneak attack me, even if I am vastly superior in military numbers and weaponry. I don't know (yet) how the Spanish will do.

We shall see. Maybe they will; maybe they won't. I was shocked when India atttacked me one game. Again, my true military was stronger than his.

Still, in MP, things will change because human intelligence/stupidity/emotions will dictate the individual civ responses.

I'm understand. Similiar an unsimiliar. Aren't west-europeans similiar an unsimiliar?
Common Roman heritidge West Curch (Catholic, after Reformation protestant) does similiar. But fortune, mentality is unsimiliar.
Mongols, Kypchaks, Scythians, Parthians is very unsimiliar.

2 Oerdin

It's only _spreading_ not conquering or power map. After defeating by Mongols groups of Kypchaks got to Pannonia, Anatolia, Bulgaria-on-Balcans, Lituania, Poland, Southern Germany, Dalmatia, Egipt (mameluks), India.
Captured nomads selled by Mongols on markets in Europe and Middle East. They was bad slaves but good warriors. They fast promoted as warlords in Egipt, Venete, Spain, Southern German Counties, England. May be if You are American or Englishman You had drop of kypchak blood.
Areal during they Golden Age are steppes from Carpathes
Mountains to Altay Mountains, from Amu-Daria river to Tura river Northern Black Sea lands, Caspian Sea northern borders, from Central-Asian deserts up to Siberia taiga. Proof are in archaeology, toponymica, oral history, records by bysantines, arabs, armenians, persians, russians, chineses et cetera.

Full PM-box? Change here!

There were some rather illogical voters and voting trends.

Some of us still fondly remember the "Polish Invasion".

That was when an enormous number of Poles signed up for Apolyton, voted for the Poles, and never posted again.

It resulted in a scandal and in the end, a recount....

A link to the height of that scandal:

1. Byzantium
2. Thai/Siam
3. Tibetans
4. Mayans
5. Incas
6. Dutch
7. Irish/Scottish (this is of course, assuming that the gauls stay the gauls and the term 'celt' isn't adapted. In which case, we need some British Isle celts )

And that's order of preference as well.

Are there enough "quality" civs left for Firaxis to eventually release another XP?

Doesn't matter. If Infogrames says "Do you want to make another expansion for Civ3?", I'm sure Firaxis will say "Yes."

And they can always resort to the aliens and such like in Fantastic Worlds for Civ2. More map tile sets, multiple maps, additional eras, etc. etc. etc.

Quality is a subjective term; to Jamaicans, a Jamaican civ could be a quality civ, while a French civ might not be what they consider a quality civ.

I think the final decider of new civs will be consumer demand more than anything else. If it is high enough, as evidenced by sales of C3PTW among other things, then they will more than likely produce another XP with more civs. Unless they do like was done with SMAC CrossFire.

Ah hell, America is the world's leading superpower. No matter how ridiculous it seems, they just :have: to be included in order for the game to sell.

The truly most ridiculous and laughable choice would be the Confederates. A faction that only existed for 4 years, in a civil war of just one country, as a civilization?!

Alright, I'll drag the thread back on topic.

Since the 8 civs in ptw are the Spanish, Mongols, Arabs, Vikings, Turks, Carthaginians, Celts and Koreans.... (iirc)

the next 8, according to the list, would be:

Inca
Maya
Portuguese
Dutch
Hebrews
Ethiopians
Poles

Celt/Gaul, Portuguese, Dutch, Hebrew, Poles are too close to they neghbors on Earth map. I'm tried make Hebrews. They disapears in stone age razed by Bailonians or Egiptians. May be good for kinda a mediterranean or middle-east scenario.

Many people don't play the Earth maps. For those who do, you could choose which civs you did/didn't want in, to balance the closeness of the various civs.
