Turnchats Support Apolyton, pre-order Civilization IV

This is a prelude to a poll. I would like input for the options for poll that will ask when the best time for people to attend turnchats is. The poll will probably go up tomorrow. Try to keep suggestions in GMT for clarity.

Essentially, it gives citizens more of achance to be a part of the game. The game is played by the president while he is in a chat room with everyone who can attend, and he consults his advisors for what to do when things that haven't been prepared for in the forums arise. Preferably there will be at least one attendee from each department.

Full PM-box? Change here!

Try doing somewhere between 3PM and 5PM GMT. If I'm correct in assuming that the majority of us are somewhere between in the US or Europe, this will give the most people the opportunity to participate.

I don't know, 3-5 GMT would be too early for most people in America on workdays. Maybe 11 GMT? I hope that's not too late for the Europeans. AS the game progresses and the turns get longer turnchats get really long, so people may need to be prepared to stay up pretty late anyway. At CFC we're in the industrial age, and turn chats run from 12 GMT until appoximately 4-5 GMT, typically. If it comes down to two times that aren't too close to each other, I think we'll have to give priority to the president first, the cabinet second and the rest of the citizens third, once the officials are actually elected, that is. Ideally, every minister's deputy will be on the other side of the globe, ensuring that at least one person from each department makes it. If not, then departments may need to appoint chat-reps in addition to deputies.

Let's set them, say 6AM GMT, 12AM GMT, 6PM GMT, and 12PM GMT. As we will have four turn chats per month (approximately), this will provide the widest access to the turn chats. However, I think that where the President lives will ultimately determine the timing of the turn chats.

I can do it, even though it is sometimes a little bit slower, but then again I have a faster than average computer.

His problem isn't the fullscreen part, it's the fact that Civ3 is BIG on memory and could easily conflict with other programs.

No actually, I have a tonne of memory, just that many games I have do not allow multi-tasking in Windows (eg Max Payne).

How about we have 2 turnchats a week?
The first is for general debates about what to do in advance and to set up referendum polls (if necessary).
Then give about 3 days in between before the 2nd turnchat.
The second is for when the Prez actually plays.
This way, people who can't turnchat at same time as Prez can still have input.

You could call the first Prelim Turnchat and the second Executive Turnchat.

For those who haven't yet voted, go to the Turnchat Poll Thread to vote on whether to have them or not. If the final vote is yes, then I will make another one asking how often.

Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

It's difficult to find a compromise between Euros and Yanks on this one... If you make it 23h - 5h GMT, it's impossible for working Euros to follow (they have to sleep). If you make it 21-23 GMT, most Yanks will be working at this time.

Still, I agree with Gramphos with 21h - 23h GMT, because most Americans will be able at least to participate a bit, and they won't have to take on their sleep time for this. If the turn chat finishes too late in the Euro night, the chats will be very one sided.
