War Explodes in the Americas!
Following a Mexican cannon build up in northern Mexico over the past few months, the United States government has decided to take action against the independents and has struck the Mexicans at Tampico, effecitvely occupying the Mexican provinces of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and Tamaulipas. A Brazilian Steam Warship was sunk in a naval battle with American steam warships and gunboats off the coast of Haiti. The United States navy only lost one gunboat in the battle. A cease-fire was signed with the Independents following the fall of Tampico.
In the Mediterranean, American forces began a massive bombardment of the Sicilian ccapital of Messina. The United States warns all European nations that it intends to occupy Messina and Sicily so do not interfere.
In addition to the war, American forces landed near Djibuti in East Africa in preparations for an assault on the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa. These troops are only passing by the French city to get to Ethiopia and Somalia and will pose no threat to the French colony there. The United States senate is willing to consider removing the trade embargo against France once the disputed territories a re firmly under American control.

Messina Surrenders to American Forces!
Triumphant American field artillery divisions entered Messina this month after a continuous bombardment against the city. An attempt by a steamer carrying Sicilian government officials to escape from the fighting was futile as American forces relentlessly pounded sections of the area. This month cleanup operations began as American forces received the full surrender of the island's armed forces, bringing it into the American sphere of control.
Finally, American forces are poised north of Addis Ababa for a strike on the Ethiopian capital. As American field artillery moved through French Djibuti toward Addis Ababa, no real resistance moved to oppose them, leading American commanders to believe that the bulk of Ethiopia's forces lay in the capital, awaiting the American attack.
Other than that, it has generally been going well in the United States. (I forgot to mention that the Diplomatic Corps was completed in Washington DC last month).
