well...I don't have all the ideas. But I do think it's important. I showed the page to my sister. She had the impression that Civfanatics was the place to be.

As I've said before, that intro paragraph has too little concrete details about the site...and too much empty, long words.

I'd also like to see a 'Hottest Threads' option on the homepage. Something whereby it lists the five or ten threads that have had most replies (or maybe views) in the last 24 hours. I think that'd be cool...

I'm not sure if off-topic threads should count in this, though. I don't want OTers to be 'second-class- citizens, but I'm not sure if the latest spamming flamefest should be advertised on the homepage.

1) It is not intended to have a great amount of "concrete" details about the site -- it is only intended to serve as a general overview.
2) "empty, long words" -- I disagree. On their own they are admittedly not "concrete" (see point #1 again), but especially when combined with the new introductory page (and the "About" section homepage before that) everything is all rounded out quite nicely.

Dan, You may have a "different opinion" but, as you are a poor writer, your opinion is suspect. Read Strunk and White. You will learn both how to improve your writing and your recognition of good writing.

I'm not going to debate this anymore. I've got way more experience than you do. The feedback stands. Do with it as you please.
