I am looking for Linux CtP users which would be willing to download one of my Maps and help me figure out how to get them to work on a Linux system. I want to list any patches required and the instructions for making each type work on my site.
Do we have any Linux users that would be willing to help?

Im 0 for 2 right now. Im downloading the dynamic patch and will see if that offers any improvement.

Thanks, much appreciated.
Could you also answer the following:
What is the file extension used by Linux CtP saved games?
Can you import through the chat window like in Windows?
Can you have more than 8 Civs?
What are the standard map sizes in Linux CtP?
24x48, 48x96, 64x128 & 70x140?

There isn't one for a default saved game. It's .csg for a scenario
Can you import through the chat window like in Windows?
I've had no luck doing this. So I don't think so
Can you have more than 8 Civs?
Yep. Change the userprofile.txt
To one more than the number of civs you want to play with. It really is the only way to play with 32 civs as it's much faster than widows.
Warning You'll have to change it back when you want to play with a normal number, or you'll get a segfault
What are the standard map sizes in Linux CtP? (24x48, 48x96, 64x128 & 70x140?)
Yep those are the standards same as in windows.
Im getting errors concerning continents. When trying to load the .Sav file I should be able to work this out. I'll post more later.

Thanks for the info, it helps.
Mac players can't seem to import maps either (don't know whether they really tried or not though). Can you do an /exportmap mapname.ext from the chat window? If so, is there a file by that name in the [CtP]\ctp_program\ctp directory? If so, it probably works. It is just picky about how it will let the /importmap function work.

Oh yeah one more thing you need to download Linux patches 1.1 and then 1.2.
The estra Dynamic patch may provide some thing more but I haven't installed it yet as it is unsupported and Im waiting to find out why.

Sophanthro,
Wow, this is just what I needed. Thanks much for your help. It is appreciated.
What is the problem with the PBEM games? Maybe I can help shed some light on it?

Actually the PBEM problem is a real weird one. Ive emailed Lokigames about it. Its odd because when a windows game opens find and there is no problem. But when I take the game a played in Linux and try to open it in Windows, it opens fine but every city has a forcefield, it's needless to say very odd.
Oh and just so any one whose interested knows the Dynamic patch won't effect game play at all it just allows you patch in new libraries . Which is very cool because the new version of smpeg plays the movies better, and SDL 1.1.1 is a bit cleaner then the 1.0.

Hi!
The last game we played under Linux: After applying the latest patch, my cities had also forcefields in all old saved games.

Hey Dani
Got a question?
Was that when going from patch 1.1 to patch 1.2?
After applying the Dynamic patch?
Or trying to load the game thru windows?
Thanks
Sophanthro

I will be switching to Linux in a few weeks, so I'll get in touch with you once the change has occurred.

Hi Sophanthro!
I do not know exactly what patchlevel ctp/Linux my boyfriend has. Ca. 7 days ago he applied "the latest patch", I think really the latest, because he got it directly from Lokisoft. Then our former saved games had the "forcefield"-bug. We just needed the patch, because no other game was playable. When I ended my turn, his game crashed. (He gave me the Server-Computer :-)) So we thought, the patch might help us. But it only brought forcefields for my cities. So we started a new game where I was total unhappy. (Nothing was as good as in the last game) So he said, let's start another game ...
