How man turns should we play a week? Support Apolyton or Terrorists Win

Poll expires in 3 days (we gotta get this game started).

Results will be averaged by our crazy Apolytonion mathematician.

Keep in mind that what you vote shall be considered the maximum amount of turns the president is allowed to play in a week. A limit is necessary so that there is time for decisions to be made by the people and Ministers on our course of action.

You should have put "he can play as many turns in a week as he eats bananas".
Seriously though, I think that 4 turns is good on average (in the late game). That allows the Ministers to give some general directions, but not oversee every last move he makes, and lets the game roll along. Remember, that's only (ack) 16 turns per month. However, I feel that in the very early game, more turns should be allowed. Why should we have a turnchat for the first turn, for instance? Give some general directions, and post a screenshot of what you can see every turn from 4000 BC until about 2000. Then things can get more interesting.

I think 3 is a nice number. Allows us to move along without losing control of everything.

I don't believe that number of turn chats/week has been decided yet. Has your turnchat poll concluded? If so, I will post polls that my diswcussions has anticipated.

I think as many as possible in the early game, who wants to wait around for weeks before we even found our first couple of cities and make contact with other civs? As it gets more complex, its gonna need to slow down to give ministers time to post polls and the citizens time to vote.

as many as we can, because polls should take 2 days minimum.

so if you think about it, we might get 1 or 2 turns out a week, maybe a few more early on.

but i suppose the polls could be more generalized, and we could give the prez a general idea of what to do for 5 turns or so...

I think we should let the president to play the first 20-30 turns in a fashion agreed by us(I guess it'll be REX) and then we'll make 2 turn chats every week, with 2 turns played every turn chat.

I agree with Eli on this so I didn't vote. The first turns should be played during a turn chat to get the game rolling. And then slow it down I really don't care at what speed it goes.

I believe it was Trip who suggested that the early centuries be played out fairly rapidly. Typically these turns take mere seconds to play, and it would be rediculous to sit around and debate for a whole day that which will happen in the blink of an eye. However, the later turns can take up to a half an hour and so would need more planning from the cabinet and citizenry. I'm voting for one a day, since that is a maximum and it'd be a waste to have a few days left in a week with nothing to do. If the early turns were to go faster, that's fine by me.

Turn a day wont work because the polls must last at least two days.

We need 5. Even with that, it would take more than a YEAR to play ONE game (there are 400 turns, right?)!

Tired of ads?

Do many turns, slowing down (to get feedback) only when it comes to major decisions like:

1) where to put our next city

2) we contact a new foreign power

3) major trade deals (ex. tech trades, strat resource trades, etc... territory map trades or contact with civ trades may be minor enough not to consult about)

4) we get into a major war

5) there's actually some important decisions to make in city-building or PW (like a wonder or securing a key resource)

6) a new tech is available to be researched

Minor decisions should be made by the President and ministers, we elected you for a reason. We give you the authority to make such decisions, and while pleased to be consulted, I don't think we need to have input on every little thing. Ministers should use their judgement to decide when to get input. Some things are no-brainers.

right, but in the early game, I doubt the prez will need to consult more than one or two ministers a turn. sometimes none at all because there's nothing to do but move warrior from (23, 12) to (24, 12).

A turn per day is fine so we can get our empire up and running quickly. When we have 30 cities and 100 units, and trade deals going, then it will probably be 1 turn per 2 or 3 days for polling time. When it gets really ugly, like world war or something, it might be a turn per week.

Honestly, I feel that there should be as many turns played as is reasonable. Limiting the early game "move warrior... move warrior... move warrior" to a certain amount of turns per week is ludicrous, if you ask me. And there's no real way to determine how many as the game progresses... just what is able to be done as time allows.

Ok, i have to post on this.

Now, i completely agree, a poll should be given two days. But we aren't forseeing a poll every turn, are we? Most decisions can be handled by the Ministers and the President alone. I think it would be the rare case to delay a turn because of a poll, not the opposite.

But maybe I'm just confused.

any number, but as long as he makes sure he knows what to do, as soon as he doesnt it's time to stop and poll again (in the civ2 game cavebear, the current president has been playing 6 turns a session).

we should implement a "abstain" option in every poll we use...

but now for the question:
why dont we just say: he may play as long as he has instructions from the forum for the decisions he has to take? if something arises which was not discussed, he has to stop.
this way, we will have more turns in early game, going down to maybe 1-3 per chat-session in the late-game

we still have to discuss if we do the pre-turn stuff in chat or before the chat-session
