Looks like it, judging from the threads.

Hey mister Boukefala. I think you might be right...
As expected every new civ player will choose Cctp instead of civ2 thus keeping the average lower than civ2 which consists of players who have remained stack in the “old good games…”

Dudes, I'm casting my presence here for those within 18 months of 50 or older...which of course I happen to be...

to what attribute is age ascribed? are we to become gen-z phobic, or such...if a pimple pops in cyber-gaming does it count as bombardment or bio-assault?

zooks, I hope any good new game has youth appeal...ergo, fresh meat!

Check this thread out. This shows you what happens to Horse when he tries to make a serious comment.
It's no wonder he comes over here periodically. I mean, after being flamed by dozens of people, he needs to do something to try and get some self-respect back.
It's too bad he tries to make up for stupid comments by being a smart-ass.

AH,

Come on, how do you expect people to take you seriously. This is not the OT forum and doesn't work like the OT forum. All we have to go by is your past actions in the CtP forums.

If you want to be taken seriously, try joining in and supporting the forums on a regular basis. When people see you can act like a human and want to actually contribute something positive, they would be more willing to forget your past acts.

If not, go back to OT.

Hey Horsey, ever hear the phrase "As you have sown, so shall you reap"? Pardon me if I don't have any sympathy for you and your "poor me, trying to post and all I get is flamed" routine. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm still not convinced you're straight forward on this.

But what the heck, I'm 43.

It's quite evident from all the responding posts that Alexander doesn't exactly have the highest reputation with CTP players. I'll not judge whether that's deserved or not since I'm a relative newcomer here. I'm sure those criticizing him feel they have every reason to do so.

However, I will say that regardless of any past actions on his part that the question he posed IS a legimate question even if it's not exactly being asked in right location.

So rather than attack the questioner shouldn't we be answering him? Personally I do believe CTP has drawn a younger audience than Civ II. But this isn't a negative thing, rather it's a positive thing. The reason why Civ II has an older audience is simply because it's composed of a lot of people that have been playing the Civ games since they've first started out. Whereas CTP draws a much higher percentage of people trying a civ type game for the first time ever (i.e. the younger crowd). As I said this is a positive thing. It means as the game itself matures and newer versions come out based on the CTP model it'll have it's own customer base without having to rely exclusively on past Civ gamers. So what if we're a younger crowd than the crusty old Civers? That just means CTP has an inside track on future Civers while Civ III will have to rely on an ever decreasing core of buyers.

Yeah, Horse, he's never had to deal with you before. You've earned a reputation in here and you have to deal with it. If you're trying to change it I'm game to see what you have to say. But it's going to take time for you to earn a new reputation, so don't be surprised when you get a negative reaction to what you consider to be a legitimate post. I am not trying to be mean or spiteful in this post, and I did answer your question in my previous post.
Respectfully,

To continue where Big Dave left (I'm also 43 years and feel relative young):

I think we must define, when "we" are old, middle, young or children.

Personally I think you would be at least 20 or more, before you really will enjoy playing any turnbased civ games. I just have to look around me and see/hear what they play and say.

The "young" people here are more to shoot-em-down games and games with "odd" caracters and dark castles. Young are in my opinion 15-22 years.

I know most of you will still consider me one of the young ones at 20yo, but I started playing the original civ when I was about 13, so I feel like I've got a bit of experience behind me.

And just for the record, I've always enjoyed TBS games as opposed to shoot-em-ups. Doesn't mean I don't try them and play them, but Civ has always far-outstripped any other game in my books.

Don't know if the average age playing is younger or not, but I have a hunch that (as mentioned before) that the 'new' players of civ games go out and buy the 'new' game...CtP. I don't know that the appeal has changed, but most people buy the latest one out there.

I check in at 33, and sometimes wonder what my college GPA would have looked like if Civ never existed.....

Thanks to Alexander's Horse, I feel much younger than my 36 years would indicate, being primarily a CTP player.

BTW, if you are still playing both games, does that mean that you're middle-aged? (Geez, I still play Civ I on the Super Nintendo!)
