	Why not Warrior Code? Got spare money?

I'm beginning to wonder.....Why shouldn't we research warrior code?

Archers have the same attack value as the War Chariot. Archers also have the same defense value as the War Chariot. However, they only have one movement which restricts how fast we can move. But it will probably be made up because we would not have to build a road through the jungle, or clear it...We could simply move our units. And the tech (Warrior Code) costs less than The Wheel. It seems to be the most logical choice...

This plan is easier, safer, and can be implemented sooner.
In short, it is simply better.

Yes...I've actually been pondering this for quite a while, but I have found that sometimes the answer just pops up before you post it....

Since we have to fight with the French, I support Warrior Code too, instead of Alphabet(or whatever we chose).

There is alos the simple fact that as long as we fight with archers and not UU´s there is no chance of triggering a golden age. Which while not bad to get early on, but with only two small cities stuck in jungle the size of the Michelin man, now that would be a waste.

I would definately pick a delayed victory over a long, protracted war with archers and spearmen.

fine. get warrior code. don't clear the jungle. the people have spoken and i will listen, no matter what i believe. i am a public servant.

My "protracted wars" with archers and spearmen last about 10 turns. After this I mostly took the capital, razed another city and got one city and 2-3 techs for peace. That's all I want. The 2 taken cities are crap, true, but slow down the expansion of this AI severely, so that this AI will most likely be crippled and vassalized for the rest of the game. It may fail in 1 case out of 10, but then we have nothing lost, since after about 10 turns the AI is always willing to make peace and often even then gives free techs.

The key for ancient oscillating wars is:

1) Hit early.
2) Hit short.
3) Hit hard.
4) Go "visit" the next AI.

Pussyfooting too long while building a road and 20 WCs can make you face pikemen or even musketeers in Paris on Emperor. Do you want that, Uber?

Ralph, you and I both KNOW this regime wont support oscillating wars. I KNOW how they work. I employ them in my games. I'd be LUCKY if i get ONE early war, never mind oscillating ones.

I have encountered some insight and reason in the government. Tassadar would support to start with Warrior code, that is good for the first strike. But we need at least 2 productive cities with barracks to prepare it. Unfortunately we have wasted our free settler and 1 pop point in Apolyton. After our brave archers and spears take Paris, I bet we get the Wheel as prize. It's not too late for WC's, but it needs that big road. We can't wait so long, or the French will grow too strong.

understood. all we have to do is rely on the other offices to build barracks, get WC, etc.

now they'll be happy to comply because they'll constrew it as a victory over the warmongers.

I say lets get warrior code. and head for monarchy. The sooner we can get out of this despotic sitiuation, the better off we all would be.

I just spent the day schleping all over this god-forsaken jungle to find some bananas (to feed the kids) when some big ugly looking grunt, with a club, took of them. He was clearly with the military, he called it road fees... I never even heard of rode fees.

I know we have a good group of warriors, but some of them think they are the emporer. I think there is something top down happening ...its the way this government is run. I bet you a divine monarchy would prove most effectual in comparison.

I would work harder for my democraticly (what the hell is that)chosen leader that is percieved to be god appointed and that nobility is perpetuated through blood

If there roumors are true, and there is another group of folks to the north called the Franks or Friends or something like that. Maybe they know some things. Lets make them tell us before wiping them and taking their paradise.

That may be a good idea. We are crossing over many offices here, however. Tech, Military, workers...perhaps you can all organize it into one thread for the people to vote? Plan for French, and all three agree to follow the vote.

Though I have vouched for non-military techs, I think in this case Warrior Code would be best. WC just move faster than Archers, and we don't want to waste our GA with only 2 cities. However, once we have our army set up, we should first contact the Frence and demand a tech. That way we might have a chance of getting a free tech. If the refuse (which they most probably will), then we declare war, and destroy them with our archers.

its 3 expensive techs to libraries, and a few turns after to BUILD them, and with 2 cities it wouldnt matter that much anyway.

As the people seem to want going to war with the French, we have to research the most efficient war techs. Warrior code is naturally the best option, as it is very unlikely we find horses in our surroundings, and because we wouldn't have to clear / road the jungle which protects us.

Uber : don't forget a "public servant" who claims to be it so much doesn't spam with his political concerns.

the only non-weapon tech i would gladly accept as a choice is pottery.

our jungle impeeds growth, and graneries shall improve it.

but i'd really like a weapon soon

The funny thing is, we don't even know yet where Paris is. Build more exploring warriors. Save gold to trade maps as soon as the French have Map Making (won't take long). And strive for more contacts, they make techs cheaper and allow tech brokerage.
