Linney has to resign from IE minister first. You can't say "well, if I win this election then I'll become this, but if I don't, then I'll stay as what I am." He either goes for VP or he doesn't.

As an independant I refuse to stick to any party dogma!!!

Trip: I disagree. In the civ2 game people have ran for multiple positions and there has been no trouble. I see no reason that Timeline should (technically) have to resign to run, only resign to have the position

Wow Trip - thanks for editing the first post and adding me so fast. I will be gone most of this weekend so I shall check in on monday (will try to make sunday chat - but sundays, tuesdays and wednesdays are generally bad - girlfriend and night time grad school). Thanks.

Not to worried about that - I'm guessin that 70% +/- will vote along some party line...... Of course, that is 35% : 35% and me getting 30%, so I figure I have only to find (of the 40 +/- people who do vote) only a couple to swing to something a little more independant.....

i wish u good luck, godking. remember, only about half (seriously give or take) of all citizens here are in one of the major parties...

u will need to do extensive campaiging because u dont have others to help out.

im sorry, but vlad is the best choice in my eyes for the position. plus, he is the candidate from my party.

more like 1/3... theres like 100 people and 30 party memebers tops.

well, there was 142 when i last checked, uber, so that makes it roughly a fifth of all citizens. where are the others, the independents? are they just watching, or biding their time, or what? every party wants more members, its like oct-nov 2000 when the 'undecideds' were scaring everyone.

My theory is that most people don't even come by here often. Even the most popular polls don't get up to 70 people, which is half.

Hey, just a question, don't get mad at me.

As IE minister shouldn't I be able to turn over the soon-to-be vacant office to my deputy the rest of the term?

If the prez left then the VP would take over, there would'nt be another election.

Trip, I humbly and respectfully request you post a neutral poll on this issue to the people.

To the effect of:

Should IE Minister's deputy take over for the remainder of the term?
Or should there be another election?

Linney I will answer that honestly and fairly, and I must say that I think that is pretty cheap. The President and the VP offices are elected seperately. You can't say "well since, VP takes over for the President, some guy I choose gets to take over for me if I leave. If the President got to choose his VP and there were no election, then I could see the similiarity. However, that isn't the case. For that fact, I think it would be incredibly low to even consider something like that.

As for your opinion....even though you were rude and quite clearly biased, I will respect your decision as the President of our nation. I don't agree with what your saying, but I won't argue with you. Jonny came in second place in the votes last time and I suspect he will win this election hands down. I was merely asking a question.

A deputy in the Civ 2 game was pretty much the person who came in second in votes.

Everyone should have some kind of back-up person in case something happens and you cant make a turnchat etc.

If you can give me a reason why we, in this game, should treat the situation between President and Vice-President (2 sepereately elected positions) the same as a minister and a non-official position chosen by the minister the same, then I will certainly consider it. But the way I see it now, I, well, I don't agree with it.

I agree completely with the process of election and the process of what happens with a vacant slot, but im confused on the dialogue between Timeline and Trip. Like.. most of the convo is understandable, its just the first and last line of Trip's post that confuze me. .

well.. what are you referring to as "cheap" and what are you reffering to as "low".. Timeline's statements, or the process he is describing?

I wont base any judgement untill im less dumb on the topic, lol.

/EDIT took out a line that was not edited out on my first revisal. And i think i have my answer.. but Trip's post at the top of page 2 still makes statements about "insults".. so im not whiping this post.
