A great horror-techno thriller mix, and a genuinely scary book at times.

Both sound like great recommendations. I will read them.

Just read Keegan's First World War. Disappointing. Not much new ground covered.

Keegan's Warpaths is pretty good. It deals with battlefields in North America.

I heard Anthony Beevor has a new book out about the Fall of Berlin in 45. The reviews I have seen have been pretty good.

King Leopold's ghosts is an interesting book about the Belgium Congo colony. It puts Conrad's Heart of Darkness into perspective.

Terry Pratchett is always good for quick, easy read.

Carl Hiassen's Sick Puppy is great.

Freeze,

I read Leibowitz. Will check out Eco.

BC, I will check out your recomendation. Thanks.

JT, will check out Atwood.

Che...not gonna read Marx. Did some excerpts for a class at USNA. The stuff was turgid. Poor writing goes with poor thinking, I guess...

Krop, the Dice book sounds interesting.

That is a great book. At least as good as 'Enders Game' IMO.

And for what should be a thread for book-readers, it is amazing how bad people are at reading and understanding what GP said:

Hey GP,

I'm a little late with a recommendation. It looks like you have plenty to choose from here, but if you have the time you might like Charles Bukowski. I recommend Post Office, Factotum, or Women. When I lend these books to friends, I never get them back. Try the first couple of pages and you will know immediately if it is something you are interested in. If you like him, thank me later.

No. Is written by Card also?
I read a lot of Asimov. Heinlein sound good too, but it wasn't translated in romanian (except 'Star troopers' (sp?). The books in english are expensive.
