I doubt the leclerc out does the Abrams. Leclerc doesnt use depleted uranium shells. You'de be lucky if the leclerc 120mm could take out the frontal armor of an abrams at stand-off range. Not a problem with the abrams which can take out most tanks at standoff range (2-3 miles)
Of course I could be talking out of my ass. I have never seen a leclerc, but I have seen the abrams in action and they are amazing | I agree.
The Abrams has never lost in a tank to tank battle, until they do, they will be the best. Has the Leclerc ever been in a tank to tank battle?

Soviet T-72 and T-80s in the Gulf War. The T-80 and M-1 were both new tanks then.

"T-80s "
No T-80's. Although the Iraqi's employed M-84 Yugoslav built T-72's. Kind of like a T-72 on steroids. |
Well the Marines who fought the Republican Guard said they had a shoot out with T-80 at the Kuwaitie Air Field.

Well unless there have been more tank competitions, the german and russian tanks are still rated the best in the world.

well i dont think a lone t-80 would count. Say if 100 of them ran into 'red force' on its way to kuwait city from the east then yes. But one lone T-80 I dont think is much to consider.
It might be true. But then i remember the rumours of the Iraqi's burying an atomic bomb in the western desert so as to invite a flanking manuever. | There was more than one. I hear the numbers back in 91 but don't remember them now.

Thats a great accomplishment, a M1 beat some WW2 tanks with half the range.
Tank competitions are held to determine the worlds best tanks, so that countries with billions to spend in defence can determine what tanks they want to buy.
