Should we target America instead of France?

Case Blue is almost identical to Case Pink, except that America is the target. There are pluses and minuses to this:

+ Access to dyes
- Dyes are unconnected

+ Conquest may be easier, if they're in the Jungle too.
- We would gain Jungle cities

+ We might get good terrain beyond the Jungle
- Conquest would be harder, if they're not stuck in the Jungle

I though that case pink was more of a production and city placement plan to gain an army, whatever the target. Bottom line, though is we need more info to determine our target.

As I already said elsewhere, I vote for attacking both, one after the other. However, to decide, who gets the first beating, we need to know more of the map. If America has no good land and is also stuck in the jungle, it's probably better to attack the French first.

if yes and those mountains contain iron, i would say attack french.

As we're researching it now, I think we'll discover it. (D-day is over 50 turns away. Currently, IW time is 40 turns.)

As it's a production plan, we could easily modify Case Pink to use against the Yankees. The problem is, what would we gain (dyes aside)?

Really, we would need to explore some more to make a better decision.

I say the French, because Iron is much more important than Dyes. Plus, once we get6 Iron, we would then be able to more easily attack the Yankees.

we could wait , sooner then later they are going to go to war , and then step in to finish it , ...

we could work with one of those species , and then turn on the other , when our goals are met , ....

we could look for an other species , and work with that one to "civilize" those others , ....

We don't know there is Iron in those mountains. While it is likely, I have seen mountain ranges in a number of my games where there was no iron in them.

I agree we need to know more about the terrain of the other 2 civs before we go with a blanket Case X plan. We need to find out how much military they have (within the confines of the limited Advisor's info and what we can see). The power score will be a clue as well since part of that score is based on military might.

As I have stated before, I believe it's too early to discuss operational details at this point. We should stick with the production plans outlined under Case Pink while we explore a bit more. Then we can start planning troop movements and mission objectives when we know at least a little bit more.

With the information we have, we should attack France. However, we could debate until we are blue (or pink ) in the face about the unknowns. The simple fact is, the plan as outlined does not need to change until we are ready to build the road to our target, regardless of who that is. Therefore, case pink should remain while we gather intelligence. Any decision about the target should be deferred until a later date.

Kring brough up a great point: Has anyone looked at the histograph yet? Where are we in relation to these two, ahead behind one but above the other, behind both?

I agree that we need to explore more, and perhaps then come up with a unified plan, or at least even if we go for Plan Pink, have a Plan Blue contingency ready, so if the Americans decide to attack us, we need some sort of plan for that too.

Generally, Americans are less aggressive than French.
We should attack French and try to trade with the Americans. Perhaps they'll have any surplus of dyes we can later have pacifically from them...

could be risky , the yanks might make a move when the entire army is with the French , ....

we should have some units out as early warning post's , and to slow them down a bit , just in case , ...

there might not be any time to re-group ,....
