	Civ 3 doesn't work anymore Increase the size of your Attachments

Civ 3 used to work on my PC but I stopped playing it for a while. Then the computer got a virus and afterwards I wanted to play Civ 3 again but it doesn't work anymore.

The things I've noticed it doing are placing all the text on one line over the top of each other and when I found the first city the game says it cannot find a sprite and crashes to the desktop. Throughout the game the font is the wrong style and so it is not aligned properly. That and the text over each other is like the problem some people had before one of the patches, but I never had that problem before. I only had that problem after the computer got a virus. I installed it on my laptop and it works fine. Also, after installing the v1.21f patch it still says v1.07f on the main menu.

Any suggestions as to what might be wrong? Is there any file that perhaps the virus deleted which is needed for Civ 3 to work properly?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

This is an obvious case for

Unistall

Reinstall

Install the patch.


You might want to save you mods and save games and the High Score file before you uninistall. Make sure everything else is gone before you reinstall.

Oh and make sure that virus is all gone first.

I forgot to include in the previous post that I have uninstalled the game and reinstalled it at least 10 times deleting different files each time and even deleting all Civ 3 entries in the registry, but my computer simply does not like the game anymore, no matter how much I try to make it forget the past installations. All I can think is that there is a specific windows file/program which was deleted which is why the game never works, no matter how many reinstalls I do. I have also tried the patch, but like I said it doesn't seem to register that it is installed, since the main menu still says v1.07f.

Several other games were lost after the virus but they all reinstalled ok

	Tired of ads?

It might be a directX 8.1 or an OS problem. Personally, I'd go to the trouble of re-installing both of these from scratch rather than trying to find a single file thats corrupted/missing.
