Are you sure everybody here uses the US version of the game ?
The patch will be released much later for other versions (Japanese 1.21f was released 3 days ago), so it can be bad for some people. This thread is useful

It should be, unless it was modded (other than terrain) and I don't recall it being modded otherwise.

This save file will be compatible with the next patch that comes out. However, if I use that file on my updated game, then anyone who has anything below that will not be able to open up the game again until they upgrade also (which may not be possible for non-NA people).

I say stay with 1.21 unless the next patch is editor only. I use the us version, but many people do not and we shouldn't hurt them.

unfortunately, trip may have to have two versions on his computer.... Ouch.....

Perhaps a poll, non official, jsut to see who uses what?

GodKing: even if it is editor only, the saves may not be compatible (though the system for PtW might maybe hopefully be introduced in the patch)

Actually, I think I have 3 already right now, but I can't figure out how to get them off! They were corruped or something, so there's no uninstall option, and they're not in add/remove either. Phooey.

The rules shouldn't change, unless Firaxis unleashes some interesting changes on us. I say patch - how many different versions are there? The Asia-Pacific version (me) seems to take the same patch as the Nth Amer version.

I know there are at least the German, French, and Japanese patches, who are released much later than the regular patch. I don't know if there's a Spanish or a specific UK localization.

Most NA people that is. And being that about half the people here aren't from NA, that means about half can't use the save file.

wait a minute MR. President , the US english is sold overseas aswell , .....and they can always order the US version , ....

so , it should not be a bad idea to ask who can not patch and as to why they can not do so , ......

While I do download the patch as soon as it is available, many don't: for one basic reason: to see if others have problems with it. This would include a large number of NA players as well. I know people still playing with the 1.07, 1.16, and 1.17 patches. I personally liked the first day 1.17 patch (nothing like getting Leaders from goody huts), but I still patched to 1.21 the first day it came out.

Uber made this well : it's a prepoll thread. We see there's a debate about this. Thus, a poll is in order. I suggest we'd need a 2/3 majority. Indeed, with a 51% majority, up to 49% of people would feel frustrated. 2/3 majority would lessen frustration (well, maybe a 80% majority would be even better, but I fear some people would like to mess up the poll)

I don't mind 2/3 majority, but I would like to have a fair number of people voting, since if only a few vote, you could achieve the 2/3 - 80% more easily, while not being a reflection of true opinion of the group as a whole. I always patch ASAP, so patching wouldn't affect me at all.

What if we wait a little while after the patch is released, then have a poll to see if people are wanting to upgrade to it? I think that is the best idea...

Excellent idea.

That way, people will have time to decide if they want to switch to the patch or not. They will be able to hear other people's opinions of the patch as well.

They said it was a tentative date, and I agree with Franses. It will be out once the testing is done. Having worked on beta tests before, I know it requires much testing, esp. on a project as big as it sounds like they have going for this patch.
