question about mp and software Support Apolyton, buy Civilization III: Complete

ever since i upgraded my computer
faster cpu and more ram
i also had windows xp installed.
i can join a mp game
but i can't host , i have a cable line
i want to host.
whats up with that?
is it the windows xp ?

You probably need to do a little routing. If so there have been loads of threads on this recently......one that springs to mind is Dank's firewalled thread.

i don't have a firewall that i know of.

I don't use XP, but I know it has firewalling capabilities.......they may be on by default. More important is how do you connect? Do you have a PCI/USB modem or a separate router? The thread you refer to explains the latter, if you have the former you probably need to configure the operating system. This seems most likely if you didn't change your modem but upgraded and changed OS. There must be other XP users kicking around...........

a router is a devise you use for settig up a network.. so you can have more then 1 computter hooked up.. obviously you dont have that or you would've known what i was talking about.. well then i would be of no help sorry
